The High Court has ordered a Rela member to pay a former guest relations officer RM100,000 as damages for taking a picture of her relieving herself in a truck five years ago.

Justice Tengku Datuk Maimun Tuan Mat also told Mohamad Tahir Osman, 45, to pay costs and 8% interest until full settlement to Maslinda Ishak, 31, who is now a dental nurse.

The judge said what Tahir did was outside the scope of his duty which was to maintain security.She said that in taking the picture, Tahir had caused emotional damage to Maslinda.

The incident happened after Maslinda and several colleagues were arrested by Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) enforcement officers and Rela members during a raid at Kelab De Vegas in Jalan Imbi here at 11.30pm on March 21, 2003.

After the arrest, they were led into a truck. At 12.50am, when the truck was at Jalan Jejaka 5, Taman Maluri, Cheras, Maslinda asked to go to the toilet but was denied permission.

Instead, she was scolded and told to relieve herself in the truck.

She did what she was told behind a scarf held by several friends but suddenly Tahir came, pushed the friends aside, pulled the scarf and photographed her.

Maslinda brought the suit on April 25, 2003. She is seeking RM5mil in damages from Tahir, the Rela director-general, Jawi and the Government.

The judge ruled that the Rela director-general, Jawi and the Government could not be associated with Tahir’s actions.

***** This is the type of concern that all judges must clearly demonstrate, that they will not tolerate such perverted behaviour by those who claim to be on official government duty. Justice Tengku Datuk Maimun Tuan Mat should be praised for handing down this punishment which will serve as a deterrent and warning to others in Rela and elsewhere.

What the government should have done but is most reluctant to do, to provide justice and relief to the victim, has been fulfilled by the courts. Shame on the kerajaan.

Malaysian Teachers Arrested For Allegedly Molesting Students. What About Racially Abusive Teachers?

Two Malaysia elementary school teachers have been arrested after their students lodged reports of allegedly being molested, news reports said Friday.

Investigations revealed suspicions that the teachers, aged 35 and 27, from two different schools in the southern state of Johor, molested their students in various places within the school premises and at a park, the Star daily reported.

In the latest police report lodged last week by the parents of a 12-year-old girl, the 35-year-old teacher, who was on duty in the counseling room where she was sent to for not having turned up for classes, was accused of showing her pornographic pictures in his computer before molesting her.

In the other incident, several 12-year-old students lodged separate reports, claiming their 27-year-old teacher had molested them since March, with one boy accusing the teacher of attempting to sodomize him after pretending to offer him a ride to the local mosque.

State Criminal Investigation Department chief Amer Awal has confirmed the two cases and appealed to witnesses to assist in the investigations. (M&C)

Singaporean Assoc Professor Charged For Stealing Women's Underwear

A Singaporean teacher was charged for stealing women's underwear from a university dormitory, according to media reports from Singapore Monday.

Lee Wing Foon, 39, an associate professor, was in the city-state for his leave when he committed the crime. A security guard at the dorm then nabbed him and found female undergarments in Lee's haversack.

"I have heard stories before about underwear being stolen, but I never thought it would happen to me," a victim, who was not named, was quoted as saying.

Lee's lawyer, Jose Charles, told the Community Court that his client suffers from a psychiatric disorder and started taking women's undergarments when he was 14. The items sexually arouses Lee, his lawyer said.

The lawyer also said that his client is an honorable and kind person who has no intention of causing annoyance to the underwear owners.

Lee obtained his doctorate degree in the city-state before leaving to teach in China. (People Daily Online)

Apparently, chick crazy Thamby Chik wants to 'contribute' to the nation’s progress. Exactly how he intends to do that remains as confidential as his many secret liaisons in the past. It looks like everybody in Umno wants desperately to 'contribute' to our very lucky nation and its equally fortunate citizens!

“During my term as Malacca chief minister for 12 years, I did my part to transform a poor state into a vibrant one and I would like to do the same for national politics,” he said. But he could not control his libido and penchant for under aged virgins and his political career 'blew up prematurely'. He would have definitely landed in prison if Dr Mahathir had not intervened and subverted the course of justice.

How Rahim intends to work his magic in national politics is not known. Most probably he is simply engaging in verbal bullshit and his only reason for a comeback is to taste unbridled power again. Rahim said it was Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s vision to provide equal opportunities to all the people and have a national policy of expanding the economic cake. Whether the equal opportunity is applicable to rehabilitated sex perverts is not known.

I have my doubts if he will be considered acceptable in the present climate of 'change' and especially after the advent of Islam Hadhari. In any case, how many in Umno itself would want him to make a comeback?

Now A Singapore Airlines Pilot Fined In Australia For Laptop Child Porn!

A Singapore Airlines pilot was fined A$12,000 (5,600 pounds) for trying to bring child pornography into Australia, court documents showed on Wednesday.

Ng Kok Yauw, 40, captained a Singapore Airlines flight last Saturday from the city-state to Adelaide, Australia, when customs officials searched his laptop and found video clips of child pornography, Adelaide court documents seen by Reuters said.

Ng, who appeared in court on Monday, pleaded guilty to charges of importing banned material and making a false statement to a customs officer.

He could not be reached for comment but Singapore Airlines, the world’s second-largest airline by market value, said the airline was conducting its own investigation.

Seven video files were found on Ng’s computer, some of which contained footage of rape, sexual violence and children engaged in sexual activity, the documents said.

The maximum sentence in Australia for offences involving child pornography is a fine of A$275,000 and 10 years imprisonment.

While it is not an offence to bring pornographic material into Australia, an Australian customs spokeswoman said it was an crime to bring in "objectionable" or "abhorrent" pornography into the country.

This would include materials that "offend against the standards of morality, decency and propriety generally accepted by reasonable adults", the spokeswoman said.

The pilot was one of three men caught last week by Australian custom officials for importing "offensive" pornography. Local media in Singapore said one of these was a Malaysian Airline pilot.

Malaysian Pilot Caught And Fined For Child Porn In Adelaide

A Malaysia Airlines pilot who was caught importing child pornography to Australia yesterday has faced court.

When Ahmad Said, 25, arrived at Adelaide Airport yesterday he said he did not have anything to declare.

But customs officers searched his laptop and found child sex videos.

A handcuffed Said has faced court.

Magistrate Simon Smart told him the videos were cruel and violent and it was a disgrace that the married father of two had brought the material to Australia.

The magistrate said people like Said encouraged the market for child pornography.

Said, whose wife is expecting their third child, was fined $6,000.

Women's Right To Boycott Sexist YBs

Suhakam Vice-Chairman Tan Sri Simon Sipaun said we are living in a democracy and the Joint Action Group for Gender Equality (JAG) is free to make its stand as a pressure group in urging the public not to vote for Members of Parliament (MPs) who make sexist remarks and asking political parties not to field them as candidates.

"The group can put their case forward but whether the Government is going to listen to them is another issue. Political parties concerned will have to consider whether there is a basis for the women's call," he said.

Sipaun, however, conceded that remarks made by two Barisan Nasional MPs linking a leaking roof to an Opposition MP's menstruation were uncalled-for.

"As far as I am concerned, we must look at a fellow MP as a human being, regardless of whether she is from the Government or Opposition. Our perception should not be based on gender."

Several Sabah women groups and leaders have expressed their support for JAG's move. JAG is an umbrella coalition of several women organisations - All Women's Action Society (Awam), Sisters in Islam, Women's Aid Organisation (WAO), Pusat Janadaya, Women's Development Collective (WDC) and Women's Centre for Change (WCC).

President of the Sabah Bumiputera Chamber of Commerce (SBCC), Datuk Hj Ahmad Ali Abdul Aziz Lope is confident that the country's leadership will select people of good morals and who have the capacity to serve the nation as candidates for the impending election.

"As far as I am concerned, we want elected representatives who are capable and have the people's interests at heart, and can deliver the goods, irrespective of whether they are men or women. That is most important. I always feel that Malaysians should not play with gender issues. Just don't talk about senseless things like 'skirts'," he said.

LDP Secretary-General Teo Chee Kang said Malaysian People's Representatives should be conscious of the fact that it was because of the support of both male and female voters that they were elected. "It is most ungrateful of them to injure the feelings of the opposite sex by uttering sexist remarks in furtherance of personal agenda best known to them."

Teo, a lawyer, recalled that Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had in his maiden speech as Prime Minister in Parliament stressed that first-world infrastructure must go hand in hand with a first-class mentality. "Therefore, if we want a first-world Parliament, we should not leave sexism and male chauvinism unchecked in Parliament. We should nip the problem in the bud before it goes beyond control."

While saying it is the right of JAG to ask political parties not to field sexist MPs as candidates, PBS Information Chief Johnny Mositun said, at the end of the day, it is the prerogative of the BN top leadership to decide whether they should be re-nominated as candidates.

"I understand the sensitivities of womenfolk in the country. But the MPs concerned have already tendered their apologies. However, if the leadership considers the women's petition and decides to drop the MPs from the candidates' list, then I would think it is indeed a bold decision."

President of the Federation of Sabah Manufacturers (FSM), Datuk Wong Khen Thau stressed that every human being, be it a man or a woman, should be accorded due respect.

Speaking in his personal capacity, he said: "Basically, if we don't respect others, we cannot expect others to respect us. So, those who are disrespectful don't deserve to be respected." He, however, refrained from urging the public not to vote for sexist YBs. "I leave it to them to decide."

Chairperson of Malaysian Nature Society-Sabah, Omar Abdul Kadir suggested that the sexist YBs be given a second chance. "They should have learned their lesson by now and hopefully, they will be more cautious in future, especially in an august house such as Parliament. Let us respect our mothers, sisters, sisters-in-law, wives and daughters."

Meanwhile, he concurred with the President of the Sabah Environmental Protection Association (Sepa), Datuk Susanna Jayasuriya that the Government must give emphasis to environmental issues.

"I hope the incoming elected representatives in the country will do away with sexism but pay more attention to issues like climate change. Malaysia is no exception and we are affected by global warming. It is imperative that we do something about it."

Professional counsellor Dr William Liew supports the call to stop making sexist remarks in Parliament. He said it is shameful to make derogatory remarks aimed at another gender. "Stop making fun of another gender. Stop hurting others. We need to respect a fellow human being. But before we can do that, we must respect ourselves first, whether we are politicians, professionals, non-professionals or ordinary citizens. This is the basic principle of human relationship in all areas of activity." (Daily Express, Sabah)

However the first step is to categorically let it be known to the leadership of BN especially Umno that they should refrain from proposing these lowlife or be prepared to face the consequences. If the political parties still persist in nominating them, which I think they will, then JAG should harness every and all resources available to them to ensure the defeat of not only these loudmouths but all the others, especially women MPs who sat through silently when their sisters were being humiliated in Parliament.

9-Year-Old Girl In Pakistan Forced To Marry 35-Year-Old Cousin

A nine-year-old girl was allegedly forced to marry her 35-year-old physically handicapped cousin to settle a gambling debt.

The incident took place in Akhtarabad near Okara on Tuesday.

The husband is the girl’s cousin and cannot hear or speak. The girl’s father owed gambling money to his sister-in-law’s husband and in exchange married off his daughter to his sister-in-law’s son. (Daily Times, Pakistan)

Foul-Mouthed Blackguard Badruddin Amiruldin Apologises For "Terowong" (Tunnel) Comment

Backbencher Datuk Badruddin Amiruldin (BN-Jerai) apologised on Thursday to women in general for the "terowong" (tunnel) comment he made during the recent Umno General Assembly.

Badruddin said he had no malice or any intention to degrade women when he uttered the word.

He said he only meant it as a joke as he was not referring to any body parts of a woman.

He added that the "terowong" he meant was the gap between the stewardess' skirt and legs.

"I did not mean to offend anyone and I sincerely apologise to all women.

"I have a lot of respect for women because my mother, a woman, gave birth to me, and I have an 18-year-old daughter," he said in the Parliament lobby.

Badruddin was commenting on Karpal Singh's (DAP-Bukit Gelugor) plan of organising a signature campaign against him for uttering the remark that was deemed sexist.

At the recent Umno General Assembly Badruddin was reported to have said, "Yes, we can see a tunnel in her skirt" after an Umno delegate complained that AirAsia stewardesses’ skirts were too short.

Do you think for a minute that this creep is genuinely remorseful of his sexist and vulgar comments or that he truly respects women? Canadian Paedophile Suspect, Christopher Paul Neil Arrested In Thailand

Canadian paedophile suspect Christopher Paul Neil, accused of raping young boys in Vietnam and Cambodia and unmasked by a unique Interpol Internet appeal, was arrested in Thailand on Friday, police said.

Neil, 32, was arrested in the early hours of the morning after a nationwide police manhunt. He fled South Korea to Thailand last week.

The Canadian Embassy declined to comment. The suspect's hometown was not immediately known.

Investigators have been hunting the man for three years, since German police discovered online photographs of him abusing underage Asian boys.

The man's face was initially disguised behind a digitalized swirl but German police recreated an image of the man's face and released four reconstructed photos of him last week.

Interpol issued its first-ever global appeal for public help last week and said that more than 350 people supplied tips to authorities worldwide.

Thailand was at the centre of an international manhunt, and authorities in the country, in co-operation with Interpol and police around the world lost no time in tracking him down to face justice.

Police Have Leads To Solve Nurin's Murder, Says IGP

Police have leads to trace the suspect in the brutal murder of eight-year-old Nurin Jazlin Jazimin whose body was found stuffed in a sports bag in Petaling Jaya on Monday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said today.

He said that police have so far identified one suspect involved in the murder.

"We cannot say for sure that it is the work of a serial killer but we have some information and leads," he told reporters after attending a meeting on children's issues at the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry, here.

"Up to now, we have identified only one person involved in the murder but we cannot reveal the identity," he said.

Nurin Jazlin's naked body was found outside a shophouse at Jalan PJS 1 on Monday, a month after the Standard Two pupil of Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Desa Setapak was reported missing on Aug 20 when she went alone to a night market near her house in Section 1, Wangsa Maju. (Bernama)

Hair Strands May Hold Key To Identity Of Sexual Predator

Loose hair strands found on a girl whose sexually-assaulted body was stuffed inside a sports bag in Petaling Jaya yesterday, may hold the key to the killer's identity.

Bernama learnt that the strands and the unidentified victim's blood sample have been sent for DNA tests to facilitate investigations into the murder.

A post-mortem at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital revealed that the insertion by the assailant, of an entire cucumber and a brinjal inside her vagina, ruptured her rectum and caused bacterial infection.

The victim, aged between six and nine, was found in the bag which was abandoned at the staircase of a three-storey shoplot in PJS 1/48.

The brutal murder has prompted the police to review the case of the 'Kampung Baru Molester' who has eluded the police for the past three months. It is believed the wanted man is linked to two cases of molest, where the victims, aged between five and six, were sexually attacked with brinjals after he convinced them to look for his missing cat.

Earlier at a Press conference, Brickfields police chief ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed said police had not ruled out the involvement of the `Kampung Baru Molester' in the murder.

He appealed to families of missing children to contact the police to assist them in their probe, adding that Brickfields police were also liasing with other district police chiefs over the murder of the girl. Arjunaidi described the victim as curly-haired, of fair complexion and weighing 18kg, with a birth-mark on her left thigh.

"We are also checking the images recorded by a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera installed at the corridor of the premises," he added.

That is the belated call from the Women, Family and Community Development Minister! After everyone else had had their say and much curses and swear words directed at two apes passing off as MPs, Sharizat, as if not to be left behind or as an afterthought wishing to place her lame objections on record said that her ministry will 'take action' to ensure that statements that insult or belittle women will not be repeated in parliament.

"I feel 'hurt' at what happened and I want concrete steps taken to ensure that similar incidents do not recur. I will raise the matter at the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday to 'discuss' the steps to be taken," she added for dramatic effect. But this ultra-slow response (a full 5 days after the incident) proves that self-preservation comes first and then only the duties of her allocated portfolio. To add to the hogwash she further added that she "will seek the opinions of Cabinet ministers to review and amend the rules on use of proper language in parliament. This has been happening many times and must not be taken lightly. More importantly, we want action."

(Last Wednesday, Datuk Bung Moktar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) and Datuk Mohd Said Yusuf (BN-Jasin) were reported to have made uncalled for remarks by linking the leak in the ceiling at the parliament building to Fong Po Kuan (DAP-Batu Gajah). Bung Moktar was reported to have said: "Where is the leak... even in Batu Gajah there is a leak every month," as Fong was protesting the decision of Deputy Speaker of Parliament Datuk Lim Si Cheng not to discuss the leak at the parliament building. Bung Moktar's statement was taken to refer to women's monthly menstruation.)

It is logical to ask that since the vulgar comments by these crass, ill-bred, foulmouthed plebeians have been going on for so long, what the devil has Sharizat done about it thus far? Making pious statements like "I will seek the opinion of cabinet ministers to review and amend the rules on use of proper language in parliament," or "it will be honourable if an apology is made," is well and good, but as the minister holding the women's portfolio, she should have been the first to have condemned the vulgar cretins of the Dewan Rakyat. However it looks as if playing partisan politics is more important to her than standing up for the dignity of women.

Even A Patient In An Ambulance Is Not Safe!

It was rather shocking to read in the Malay Mail today about how a female patient being sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital allegedly had her breasts fondled by a male Civil Defence Department ambulance personnel and the act recorded on a camera phone.

To add insult to injury a female personnel held her tightly when she tried to resist and when the fondling was over, all that the female personnel said to the male pervert was "Kau ni jahatlah!" According to the victim the male and female personnel "nonchalantly discussed the whole thing, and even laughed about it. The woman was insensitive and irresponsible.”

Quite unbelievable! Is this the sort of people we have manning our ambulances? No wonder Health Minister Chua Soi Lek is trying to get rid of the ambulance service from the responsibility of his ministry by proposing to privatize it. I wonder what the Civil Defence Department has got to say about their randy ambulance staff.
