Prosecution Not Appealing Razak Baginda's Acquittal.

Political analyst Abdul Razak Abdullah Baginda, who was acquitted of abetment in the murder of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu, can breathe easy after the prosecution confirmed Friday that it will not appeal the decision made by the Shah Alam High Court two weeks ago.

Deputy public prosecutor Tun Abdul Majid Tun Hamzah, who is leading the prosecution, said in a statement today that there would be no appeal because the trial judge had made a finding of fact in acquitting Abdul Razak.

"(There will be) no further comments in view that the case is continuing with the defence of Azilah (Hadri) and Sirul (Azhar Umar)," he said.

Justice Datuk Mohd Zaki Md Yasin acquitted and discharged Abdul Razak, 48, without calling for his defence on Oct 31.

Abdul Razak was alleged to have abetted Chief Insp Azilah Hadri, 32, and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, 36, who are charged with murdering Altantuya, 28, in Mukim Bukit Raja between 10pm on Oct 19, 2006, and 1am the following day.

The two Special Action Unit operatives are scheduled to enter their defence on Jan 15 next year.

*****
The prosecution confirmed Friday that it will not appeal the decision because the trial judge had made a finding of fact in acquitting Abdul Razak! Incredible logic, simply unbelievable. But then again did we really expect anything different?

Jealousy Lands Malaysian Sex Worker In London Jail

Jealousy landed a 22-year-old Malaysian prostitute behind bars in London for at least 15 years for the murder of a graduate.

Noor Azura Mohd Yusoff, whose nickname is "Princess", was on Friday convicted by the Old Bailey of killing Xie Xing Xing, 23, who was decapitated while alive and her body dumped in the River Thames in April last year.

Her boyfriend Trach Lon Gian, 27, of London, was also convicted of the murder and jailed a minimum of 22 years.

The court was told that Noor Azura was jealous of Xie and had sent a text message threatening to kill her just days before her death.

She was possessive of her boyfriend Gian and told friends they were husband and wife, jurors were told.

In March, Noor Azura returned to her home in New Cross, London, and found Xie taking part in a pornography and cocaine party.

Xie's corpse was found two weeks later in the South Dock Marina in Bermondsey.

Seven weeks later her head was found nearby wrapped in plastic bin liners.

What Bloody Game Is This Idiot Balasubramaniam Playing?

Information is just filtering in that the man in the news yesterday, P. Balasubramaniam, political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda's private investigator has developed cold feet and has retracted a couple of crucial paragraphs from his statutory declaration. The parts of his sensational claims yesterday which he has now disavowed of course are those which implicate Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. He had alleged that it was Najib who had introduced Razak Baginda to Mongolian murder victim Altantuya Shaariibuu and that the DPM had a sexual relationship with her.

He further claimed that
the police had suppressed information in a statement he gave on Najib's involvement with Altantuya. In his statutory declaration he confirmed that he was with Razak Baginda at the time of the latter's arrest and he was shown a text message from Najib to Baginda with the following message - “I’m seeing IGP at 11.00a.m. today … matter will be solved … be cool.”

What does this bloke think of himself? He simply cannot make outrageous allegations on one day and then calmly and casually withdraw them the next day. Obviously something must have happened overnight to 'convince' him of the dangers and risks of sticking to the points of his statutory declaration. Or perhaps some persons in authority must have scared the living daylights out of this guy. Whatever the reasons, he has made a fool of all of us and should be at least investigated for making a maliciously false claim.

If you don't have the balls to stick to your story and the courage to face your detractors, then don't get involved in high-stakes games in the first place.

Anwar, Najib Clash Over Murder Cover-Up Claim

A high-stakes confrontation between Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim took a dramatic turn yesterday with both trading accusations over an alleged cover-up in the murder trial of a Mongolian woman.

The day of attacks and denials began just before noon when Datuk Seri Anwar produced a key witness in the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu who alleged that the police omitted vital information he provided in the case.

This included a damning claim by him that Datuk Seri Najib knew the dead woman and had sex with her.

Later in the evening, Mr Najib lashed back, insisting that a statutory declaration filed by the witness was a 'terrible lie, a malicious fabrication' to damage him.

It was, he said, a 'desperate attempt' by Mr Anwar to divert attention away from a police investigation against the former deputy premier that he had sodomised his former personal assistant.

'I want to state in the strongest terms that I never met or knew this Mongolian woman,' Mr Najib said, adding that he has refrained from commenting on the allegations because the trial, now in recess, was ongoing.

The claims by Mr Balasubramaniam Perumal, who was present at Mr Anwar's press conference, were in the statutory declaration, or sworn statement, he had filed. In it, he alleged that vital information he gave interrogators was suppressed during the murder trial.

Abdul Razak Baginda, a former political adviser to the Deputy Premier, is being tried with two others over the murder of the Mongolian woman.

He had hired Mr Balasubramaniam, a private investigator, just around the time of the murder in October 2006. The PI was at first arrested for the murder but later released. He is a declared supporter of Hindraf, a group fighting for Indian rights whose leaders are behind bars.

His declaration also stated that Abdul Razak showed him a text message reply Mr Najib sent to him after the political adviser was arrested. Mr Najib allegedly messaged Abdul Razak: 'I am seeing the IGP (Inspector-General of Police) at 11am today...matter will be solved...be cool.'

Mr Anwar, whose opposition alliance made big gains in the March 8 general election, said yesterday that Mr Najib had feared that he would use the murder case to trigger his downfall.

Mr Anwar has claimed that his alliance will take over the government soon because of defections of elected lawmakers to the opposition.

But he faced a setback last week when police said they were investigating allegations that he had sodomised a male personal assistant, a claim he has dismissed as 'sheer fabrication' and an attempt by those linked to Mr Najib to short-circuit his takeover bid.

In recent weeks, Mr Najib, who is also Defence Minister, has been forced to fend off allegations that his wife and two others he knew were involved in the murder and were at the crime scene.

The face-off between the two politicians took another sensational turn when Mr Najib yesterday admitted that he had met Mr Anwar's accuser, Mr Saiful Bukhari Azlan, days before he lodged his police report.

'He had come to see me and he was traumatised. He said he needed help,' said Mr Najib, who insisted that he never directed Mr Saiful to do anything, including filing the police report.

Asked whether he believed Mr Saiful, he said: 'I wouldn't dare say...I thought he looked genuine... he was afraid. His hands were cold.'

The day ended with Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi trying to quash widespread rumours about the government imposing emergency rule.

'The government is stable...Everything is under control,' he said. (The Straits Times, Singapore)

"I'm Not A Politician So I Will Not Sue Raja Petra," Says Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor!

"I will not sue Raja Petra as I am not a politician," said Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak this morning, in connection with the statutory declaration made by Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamarudin.

That is an incredulous explanation and way of looking at things. Here a maverick on the blogosphere has just rubbished her good name and called her an accessory to murder and yet she will not sue because she's not a politician!!

What does it matter if you're not a politician? Aren't you a human being with normal feelings and emotions? When someone calls you a murderer, the first response after denying the accusation would be to resort to legal action to clear your name. Especially since you are the wife of the nation's Deputy Prime Minister and probably the future first lady.

To those of us on the outside, we cannot be faulted for concluding that the real reluctance to sue could be the fear of some 'uncomfortable' evidence surfacing during a trial. Datin Seri Rosmah should not give any space for such doubts to linger. If she truly feels that she is innocent and Raja Petra has knowingly character assassinated her, then she as a public figure has an obligation to take him to court and sue the crap out of him and make him pay for his misdeeds.

Hiding behind nebulous arguments of 'not being a politician' merely invites more doubt and she indeed will be solely responsible for fanning more suspicion towards her.
This issue has already been internationalised and it is in her interest to put a full stop to further needless innuendo which is damaging to her, Datuk Seri Najib and the nation. That finality can only come from a legal suit to clear her reputation. But will she? And more importantly, can she?

Civil Service Retirement Age To Be Raised To 58

The government is set to raise the retirement age for civil servants to 58 years from the present 56 in response to a proposal by the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs), sources familiar with the matter said.

The decision to raise the retirement age had already been finalised by the government and an announcement would be made very soon, a source told The Edge Financial Daily.

Cuepacs president Omar Osman, however, said the union was unaware of any such decision and had not heard anything from the government since its last meeting earlier this month.

Earlier this month, Cuepacs said the government had agreed to consider several of its requests, including raising the retirement age limit to 60, scrapping the efficiency level assessment test, reinstatement of critical and housing allowance for the support group and pension payments to be based on actual years of service.

Cuepacs had also asked for an honorarium payment of RM2,000 for each government employee in lieu of non-payment of bonus last year, but this was rejected by the government.

Malaysia is the only country in Southeast Asia, apart from Brunei, where the retirement age is 56. In neighbouring Singapore, the retirement age is 62.

RAM Holdings Bhd chief economist Dr Yeah Kim Leng said there was a need to extend the retirement age in Malaysia to be in line with international standards and demographic trends. “Life span has increased now with modern healthcare. The increase in the retirement age could also reduce the need to recruit new workers in certain sectors which are over-employed,” he said when asked to comment on the government’s decision. Nonetheless, he said those who wanted to retire voluntarily must be allowed to do so.

He said a decision to increase the retirement age would particularly benefit services like local authorities, the police force and medical care that now faced acute shortage of experienced personnel.

Yeah said for the sectors where there was a shortage of skilled and experienced workers, this would be an opportune time to increase productivity and for the older workers to share their wealth of knowledge.

“But there has to be a balance in terms of retaining skilled or experienced workforce versus the increase in expenditure outlay. As long as productivity of the worker is maintained, raising the age and the related expenditure would be justified,” he said.

Yeah said several other factors were also crucial in extending the retirement age, particularly with regards to workers whose productivity was suspect.

“There must be proper evaluation to weed out the deadwood. Also, extending the retirement age means that those in line for promotion might have to wait longer,” he said.

Yeah said a decision by the government to raise the retirement age limit for the civil service would have no bearing on the private sector as each dealt with different skill sets. (The Edge Daily)
***** While it is good for those sectors which are considered crucial and where there is a chronic shortage of staff, it is the extension for the useless deadwood who pervade the entire public service that is worrying. The government should include a compulsory early retirement provision whereby those who are unproductive, spend more time in the canteen or generally of no bloody use are sent packing years before they reach the age of retirement. And the government should exercise this option ruthlessly.

Bali Bombers' Only Regret Is That Muslims Died In The Attack

The three Indonesians sentenced to die for the 2002 Bali blasts, which killed more than 200 people, say they are ready to be executed and their only regret is that Muslims died in the attack.

The three militants - Imam Samudra, Mukhlas and Amrozi, who was dubbed "the smiling bomber" because of his constant grin during the trial - are being held at Indonesia's top security Batu Prison off the southern coast of Java.

They met family members yesterday in what is likely to be the last such visit before they are executed by firing squad.

"People ask me, why am I smiling? I am happy because I will be united with 72 angels in heaven," said Amrozi.

"In the past I have killed many with my bombs. I have been tested by spending time in this prison, but if you make infidels angry you will be rewarded. And soon I will enjoy the fruit of my deeds, if I get executed, God willing," he said.

The two blasts on Bali's Kuta strip on October 12, 2002, one at Paddy's Bar, the other at the Sari Club, killed 202 people including 88 Australians and 38 Indonesian citizens.

The attacks were blamed on southeast Asian militant group Jemaah Islamiah.

Amrozi, a motorcycle mechanic, his brother Mukhlas, and Imam Samudra were the only three involved in the bombings to be sentenced to death.

"My brother Amrozi was visited by a dead friend in a dream last night, who told him a flying creature with a golden saddle is waiting to take him to heaven. This is why we will not ask for pardon," Mukhlas said. (Gulf News)

Two More Suspects, A Man And A Woman, Identified In Nurin's Murder

Police have identified two more suspects whom they believe can assist in investigations into the brutal murder of Nurin Jazlin Jazimin. CID Director Datuk Christopher Wan Soo Kee said the suspects, a man and a woman, were identified based on their photofit from public information.

He said the 168cm tall male suspect, aged between 30 and 40, is believed to be looking for a room to rent for his daughter when Nurin was reported missing.
"The man was spotted several times a housing estate around Bangsar," he told reporters.

The 153cm tall female suspect, in her 20's, clad in a red dress, was seen on Sept 16, near the place where the sports bag containing Nurin's body was found the next day, said Wan who heads a special team investigating the murder.
The bag was found at a shoplot in Petaling Utama on Sept 17.

Wan urged the public who saw the two Malay suspects, whose nationalities are unknown, to contact investigating officer ASP Loh Pei Pei at 03-79662222.

On the Indonesian woman suspect arrested in connection with Nurin's murder, Wan said police were still questioning her.
He said the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card which she swallowed while being taken to the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court on Saturday has not been ejected from her body. The 23-year-old woman has been admitted to the University Malaya Medical Centre in Petaling Jaya after she swallowed the card. Police believe the SIM card can shed light to solve the murder of eight-year-old Nurin.

On the closed-circuit television camera recording sent to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) laboratory in Washington, Wan said Malaysian police officers sent there are still analysing the recording. (Bernama)

Nurin Jazlin Murder: Indon Woman Arrested This Morning

An Indonesian woman in her twenties was arrested early this morning in connection with the murder of Nurin Jazlin Jazimin, according to an SMS alert received just now. This brings to five the suspects currently in remand.

Yesterday five people including a woman were arrested. The woman, however, was released several hours after her statement was recorded.

The men were remanded for seven days by a magistrate’s court here to facilitate police investigations. One of them is the woman’s husband, a tailor shop owner.

Nurin had foreign objects inserted into her private parts, which later caused her intestines to rupture leading to infection, which was identified as the cause of death.

It is learnt police have established that Nurin was not a target of a revenge attack but was a victim of "chance". There had been speculation earlier that Nurin could have been the victim of revenge against her parents. Police have also established that there is no connection between Nurin's parents and the suspects in custody.

How the Indonesian woman fits into all this is unclear, but over the next few days the police should be able to give the public a precise report on who were responsible and why.

Nurin Jazlin Murder; At Last A Breakthrough With Arrest Of Five Suspects

Five people including a woman have been arrested in connection with the murder of eight-year-old Nurul Jazlin Jazimin here on Thursday.

A team of police officers from the Petaling Jaya and Selangor police at about 11.30pm picked up the five aged between 27 and 33 from several locations in Section 7 in Shah Alam.

It is learnt one of the five, a man in his 30s, has a string of criminal records including sexual assault cases here and in several other states.

CID director Commissioner Datuk Christopher Wan Soo Kee said the arrests were made possible following information from the public.

"Two cars and five cellular phones were seized from the suspects,'' he said, adding that they were detained to assist police in their investigation into the murder of Nurin Jazlin.

The arrest of the five is the first major breakthrough police have made since Nurin Jazlin was first reported missing from her Wangsa Maju flat on Aug 20.

Police have been working tirelessly to nab the killer/s and have reopened several old cases with similar modus operandi to narrow down their suspects.

Nurin Jazlin went missing on Aug 20 after she went to a night market by herself near her house in Section 1, Wangsa Maju, in Setapak. Her body was found stuffed in a sports bag at a three-storey shop lot in Petaling Utama on Sept 17.

A post-mortem showed that she had been sexually assaulted. (The Star Update)

Sentenced To Death In China For Passing Toxin Through Kiss

Three people were sentenced to death in China this week for murdering their partners with rat poison, with one woman convicted of passing the toxin through a kiss, state press said on Thursday.

Xin Xinfeng was sentenced to death in central China's Henan province after a local court found her guilty of passing a capsule of rat poison to her lover through a kiss on the mouth, Xinhua news agency said.

Her lover, identified as Mao Ansheng, later died, it said.

Xin committed the crime in January this year after Mao had a relationship with another woman, it said. She was sentenced to death on Tuesday.

In another case, lovers Chen Lihua and Huang Jianxiao were sentenced to death on Wednesday in southwestern China's Yunnan province for separately poisoning their spouses. Chen was convicted of lacing her husband's food with rat poison, leading to his death in February 2005, the Yunnan Daily reported. Huang was convicted of poisoning his wife in March the same year, it added, she too died.

The lovers feared that they would have to surrender some of their wealth if they divorced their spouses, so they decided to murder them instead, it said.

Chen and Huang were given two-year reprieves on their death sentences, meaning their capital punishments will likely be commuted to life in prison.

The use of rat poison is common in murder cases in China because it is cheap and widely available. (Independent Online)

Nurin's Murder - 41 Year-Old Suspect Arrested

Police arrested a 41-year-old man in Lebuh Ampang here this afternoon in connection with the sexual savagery and murder of eight-year-old Nurin Jazlin Jazimin.

The suspect, who works as a "middleman" for a travel agency in the city, was lured by a friend to a coffeeshop where a police team had mounted an ambush to nab him.

A police source said police laid the ambush after the suspect's friend notified them that the suspect might be linked to Nurin's brutal murder.

The friend had also told police that he suspected the man could be the "Kampung Baru child molester" who had sexually abused two children with brinjal.

Bernama learnt that prior to the arrest, the friend had hoodwinked the suspect into believing that he had a business proposal to discuss at the coffeeshop. At about 2pm, the suspect arrived at the coffeeshop where his friend was waiting.

According to the friend, they discussed joint-venture businesses before the topic of conversation veered to personal matters. "During this time, I sent an SMS to a group of undercover policemen who were waiting in ambush outside the coffeeshop.

"Just then, the man asked me to meet a business associate and began walking towards a building, located on the other side of the road. "At that juncture, I immediately called the policemen," he told Bernama.

Nazri Says "Negligence Charge On Nurin's Parents Within The Law". We Say "Oh Shut Up Nazri, You Cold-Hearted Ass"

When it comes to making senseless and outrageous statements, the one person in government who can give strong competition to the info-dictator Lord Zainuddin Maidin, is that pretentious nitwit, Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department.

His latest callous and compassionless opinion that the possibility of the police charging the parents of senseless child murder victim Nurin Jazlin Jazimin for alleged negligence is in accordance with provisions in the Child Protection Act, is a case in point.

On one side we have the poor, unfortunate parents of this brutally murdered young girl in the deepest despair, trying very hard to come to terms with the loss of their daughter and the terrifying thoughts of how she must have agonizingly suffered before death. Visions of torture and excruciating pain which young Nurin must have endured will obtrude and last in their minds till the day they themselves pass on.

On the other we have this idiot of a slimy politician who attempts pathetically to defend the boo-boo made by the IGP who first brought up the subject of parental negligence charges when he said that they may face charges under the Child Protection Act 2001 if investigations showed their negligence had contributed to Nurin's death. Nazri pompously declared "law is law...we need to take action, nobody can slip away," while adding that the police investigations were in line with the Rukun Negara principle -- Rule of Law.

If the Rule of Law which this ass so smugly refers to is strictly applied, then most of the government and much of the ruling party bigwigs would find themselves behind bars on charges ranging from outright corruption, abuse of power and treasonous looting of the nation's wealth.

Will someone tell this arrogant, supercilious bastard that he too is a father and ask him what his reaction would be if the roles were reversed and someone gave him the same stonehearted opinion that he is dishing out to others now.

Persons who rightfully should be institutionalized in an asylum should not be allowed to roam freely in the corridors of government and especially the Cabinet.

Nurin's Father Claims Her Body For Burial

An emotional Jazimin Abdul Jalil finally came to terms with the death of his daughter Nurin Jazlin Jazimin and was at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital mortuary Friday morning to claim her body for burial.

Jazimin, who yesterday adamantly refused to accept that the girl's body found stuffed in a sports bag was that of his missing eight-year-old daughter despite the DNA test proving otherwise, could not control his emotions and was in tears as he went through the procedures of claiming the body of Nurin, a victim of brutal murder and sexual abuse.

Jazimin, clad in a pink "baju Melayu" and black trousers, accompanied by family members and relatives, was handed Nurin's body at 11.15am. After a short prayer, the body was taken to a van.

At the family's house in Section One, Wangsa Maju, Nurin's mother, Norazian Bistaman anxiously waited for her husband's return with their daughter, fondly called "Kak Ngah" by family members and neighbours.
Nurin was buried after Friday prayers at the Wangsa Maju Muslim cemetery.

Yesterday, police confirmed the results of the DNA test done on the blood samples taken from the dead girl matched that of Jazimin, 33, and Norazian, 35. However, Nurin's parents were doubtful over the findings and asked for a second DNA test. The outcome will be known on Sunday.

Nurin, a Standard Two pupil of Sekolah Kebangsaan Desa Setapak, was missing since Aug 20 when she went to a night market near her home in Wangsa Maju on her own. She was last seen being dragged into a white van by a man.

On Monday, an employee of a book distribution company found a sports bag at the bottom of a staircase of a shoplot in PJS1/48, Petaling Utama, and brought into her working place, thinking that it belonged to her boss. (Bernama)

***** This is such a very, very sad occurrence as all tragedies are. Our prayers for and condolences to her parents and family. May The Almighty give them the strength they badly need at this terrible time in their lives.

Police Have Leads To Solve Nurin's Murder, Says IGP

Police have leads to trace the suspect in the brutal murder of eight-year-old Nurin Jazlin Jazimin whose body was found stuffed in a sports bag in Petaling Jaya on Monday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said today.

He said that police have so far identified one suspect involved in the murder.

"We cannot say for sure that it is the work of a serial killer but we have some information and leads," he told reporters after attending a meeting on children's issues at the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry, here.

"Up to now, we have identified only one person involved in the murder but we cannot reveal the identity," he said.

Nurin Jazlin's naked body was found outside a shophouse at Jalan PJS 1 on Monday, a month after the Standard Two pupil of Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Desa Setapak was reported missing on Aug 20 when she went alone to a night market near her house in Section 1, Wangsa Maju. (Bernama)

***** While there is still some apprehension about whether it really is Nurin, the second DNA test which will be performed soon should set aside all
doubts and assist the parents in coming out of from an understandable state of denial. The whole nation awaits the police action to be taken and the speedy arrest of the brutal perpetrator(s) of this heinous, inhuman act.

Insufficient Evidence In Body Parts Murder Case - Sole Suspect Freed

Malaysian police have freed on bail a woman who was the sole suspect in the murder of a Singapore man whose body was chopped into 11 pieces and stuffed into a refrigerator.

A newspaper said on Saturday the surprise move came after government prosecutors found there was insufficient evidence to link the 33-year-old Malaysian with the gruesome murder.

"There is lack of evidence," prosecutor Yusof Zainal Abideen was quoted by the New Straits Times as saying. "If there is new and sufficient evidence, we will consider charging her."

The remains of 39-year-old businessman Goh Yoke Seng were discovered in black bin bags at a posh apartment in Kuala Lumpur when the new owner of the apartment went to clean the unit, which had been vacant for more than three months.

A strong stench led the owner and security guard to the refrigerator, which had been sealed with masking tape.

Singapore newspapers had said the victim was believed to have been married to the woman and had been out of touch with his own family for nearly two years.

Altantuya Murder Trial: I Was Confined, Threatened And Tortured By Cops - Rohaniza

Lance Corporal Rohaniza Roslan told the murder trial of Mongolian beauty Altantuya Shaariibuu that she was confined, threatened and tortured by police before recording her cautioned statement at the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman, reports Bernama.

Rohaniza, 29, the girlfriend of Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, the first accused in the widely-followed murder trial, said this when asked by the court to clarify on the five material contradictions in her testimony during examination-in-chief yesterday from her cautioned statement given to police on Nov 16 last year.

Rohaniza, the seventh prosecution witness, said her cautioned statement to the police was not true as it was made under duress.
She also claimed the police had recorded her statement on matters which she did not mention. Rohaniza, who is attached to the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters, was testifying on the 12th day of the high-profile murder trial.

Earlier, Rohaniza testified that one week before the trial began she received a phone call from a mysterious caller threatening to shoot her if she becomes a witness in the trial.
She said the threat came from a Malay man on June 11. However, she could not recognise the caller's voice and his telephone number registered on the screen of her handphone. "The caller said don't be a witness or you'll be shot," said Rohaniza.

Following the life-threatening call and worried over her safety, Rohaniza said she lodged a police report on the same day.

***** What the hell is going on? Who are the prosecution team prosecuting? Or are they actually defending someone in this trial? On whose behalf was this woman confined and 'tortured' and for whose sake was she issued death threats? Who gains if she doesn't tell the truth in court? Who, who who?

Ask Najib and he'll scream "SUBJUDICE!!" Whoever wins or loses, our reputation as a country, our rule of law as well as the justice system are all taking a royal beating. Shameful!

Najib Will Not Issue Statement On Altantuya Murder Case

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will not issue any statement on the claim by a witness linking the picture of the deputy prime minister in the on-going murder trial of a Mongolian model, Altantuya Shaariibuu, at the Shah Alam High Court as it could be subjudice to the case.

His press secretary Datuk Tengku Sarifuddin Tengku Ahmad, however, said Najib was maintaining his statements made several times before that he had never met or known Altantuya, 28, and was not involved in the case.

"I wish to make it clear that the deputy prime minister had on several occasions when interviewed by the media previously and during the Ijok by-election had said that he had never met and known Altantuya and was not involved in the case.

"As such, the issue over the picture does not arise.

"This brief clarification is made because media reports on yesterday's proceedings of the court case have given rise to various views and statements by certain parties that could affect public opinion on the deputy prime minister," Tengku Sarifuddin said in a statement to Bernama today.

In the high-profile murder trial yesterday, Altantuya's cousin, Burmaa Oyunchimeg, 26, told the court that she had seen a picture of Altantuya having a meal in the same table with political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda, 46, and a Malaysian government official who is known by the name of "Najib Razak" and several others.

Burmaa, also known as Amy, said Altantuya showed her the picture when they were in Hong Kong after the Mongolian beauty returned from France.

Replying to lawyer Karpal Singh, who is holding a watching brief for Altantuya's family, Burmaa, the sixth prosecution witness, said Altantuya mentioned that the Malaysian government official's name was Najib Razak and she could remember the name because it was similar to Abdul Razak's.

However, the picture in question was not shown in court.

When campaigning in the Ijok state by-election in April, Najib had repeatedly denied his involvement in the Mongolian model's case and had also chided the opposition for resorting to character assassination strategy by making wild accusations including linking him to the Altantuya's case.

Najib said all parties including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi knew the actual situation.

Following is the full statement by Tengku Sarifuddin to Bernama:

1. I wish to refer to today's media reports on a witness' testimony on a picture (not shown in court) of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in the murder trial of Mongolian model Altantuya.

2. Since the trial is in progress and any statement might be subjudice to the case, it is not appropriate for the deputy prime minister to comment on the matter.

3. Nevertheless, In wish to clarify that the deputy prime minister had on several occasions when interviewed by the media before and during the Ijok by-election had stated that he had never met or known the victim and was not involved in the case. As such, the issue over the picture does not arise.

4. The brief clarification is made because media reports on yesterday's court proceedings have given rise to various views and statements by certain parties that could affect public opinion on the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib.

Witness Claims Altantuya Married Razak Baginda In Hong Kong

Interesting update on the Altantuya murder trial from Bernama.

Private investigator Ang Beng Chong told the High Court here Wednesday that Altantuya Shaariibuu married Abdul Razak Abdullah Baginda in Hong Kong two years before her death.

Ang, 56, said this was told to him by the part-time Mongolian model but she never showed any evidence or document on the marriage. He was testifying as the prosecution's fifth witness in the high-profile murder trial which entered its eighth day Wednesday.

When asked by Abdul Razak's counsel K.K. Wong during cross-examination whether he knew that under Malaysia's Islamic law that Muslims could only marry Muslims, Ang said he knew. However, when asked what was Altantuya's religion, he said he did not know.

Ang said he was hired by Altantuya in September 2006 to inform her whether Abdul Razak was home in Malaysia or abroad. He admitted that the police report made by Altantuya's cousin, Namiraa Gerelmaa was taken from information he gathered while working for Altantuya.

Abdul Razak, 46, is charged with abetting Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, 31, and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar 36, both from the police Special Action Squad in murdering Altantuya, 28, between 10pm on Oct 19 and 1am on Oct 20, 2006 at Lot 12843 and Lot 16735, Mukim Bukit Raja, Shah Alam.

The political analyst is accused of committing the offence in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur between 9.54am on Oct 18 and 9.45pm on Oct 19, 2006.

Abdul Razak Gave Diamond-studded Gold Ring To Altantuya

Not THAT Diamond-studded Gold Ring

Interesting revelation in today's trial as reported by Bernama.
Uuriintuya Gal-Ochir, a friend of murdered Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu, said political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda presented Altantuya a diamond-studded gold ring as a gift.

Uuriintuya, 30, said she believed the ring was given by Abdul Razak because Altantuya herself told her that it was a gift from her boyfriend.
Besides the ring, she also identified a pair of earrings, which was bought in Mongolia, and a Larmes-brand watch bought in Hong Kong as Altantuya's.

Uuriintuya was giving evidence when questioned by lawyer Karpal Singh, who is holding a watching brief for Altantuya's family and the Mongolian government, in the Altantuya murder trial at the Shah Alam High Court here.

The high-profile murder trial entered the seventh day today.
In the dock is Abdul Razak, 46, who is charged with abetting Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, 31, and Sirul Azhar, 35, both from the police special action squad, of murdering Altantuya, 28, between 10pm on Oct 19 and 1am on Oct 20 last year at Lots 12843 and 16735 in Mukim Bukit Raja, Shah Alam. The political analyst is accused of abetting them in the murder.

Uuriintuya denied that she demanded money from Abdul Razak.
"I also don't know whether Altantuya and her private investigator Ang Chong Beng demanded money from the political analyst," she said.

Cross-examined by Wong Kian Kheong, she disagreed to a suggestion by the Abdul Razak's counsel that she had run out of money after a week in Malaysia.
Uuriintuya, who accompanied Altantuya to Malaysia on Oct 8 last year, admitted that despite being harassed and threatened by Abdul Razak's two private investigators and having lodged a police report on their disturbances, she, Altantuya and Altantuya's cousin, Namiraa Gerelmaa, still went to Abdul Razak's house on Oct 19.

She also said that she had never met Abdul Razak before Altantuya went missing after going to the political analyst's house on the night of Oct 19.
