Excellent Royal Advice
Teachers and parents have a responsibility to inculcate the essence of unity in children and educate them to reject racial extremism and religious fanaticism, the Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Nazrin Shah said.
"The voice of moderation and mutual respect for one another's community and religion must be made the basis of the society and nation.
"The essence of the constitution must be respected for the well-being of the citizens and prosperity of the nation," he said at the presentation of excellence awards at Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) Sam Tet, here.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Tajol Rosli Ghazali, State Secretary Abd Rahman Hashim, State Education and Higher Education Committee Chairman Datuk Zambry Abd Kadir and State Education Director Datuk Mohamed Zakaria Mohd Noor were also present at the function.
Raja Nazrin gave a personal contribution of RM100,000 to the school.
He also presented excellence awards to outstanding students in the Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR), Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examinations as well as in co-curriculum.
Raja Nazrin said present-day students must be made to understand the importance of being citizens who subscribed to harmonious living and that such harmony was the key to national stability and peace.
He said it was the duty of parents and teachers to inculcate maturity in the thinking of students to ensure that they subscribed to harmony in their thinking in a society that comprised various races, religions, cultures and languages.
The establishment of Malaysia as an independent country and it being recognized as a sovereign nation was the result of the common struggle of the people of the various races, religions, cultures and languages.
"In the last 50 years, these various citizens have come together to forge good relations amongst them, struggled together to achieve independence, together become citizens of Malaysia, struggled together to rid the country of the communist threat, together upheld the political philosophy of a democratic nation, and together striven to bring economic prosperity," he said.
***** Along with teachers and parents our politicians too, especially the ruling party pemimpin2, should read, recite and memorize the above speech by the erudite Raja Muda. Perhaps if the leadership should by a miracle decide to follow the royal advice, things will be far better for all Malaysians.

he is my man to lead the nation but in reality there's not an iota of chance.
its a pity that such an enlighten individual is and will not be the PM.
His is a powerless lonely voice of moderation ( and logic ) lost in a sea of powerful & eminently corrupted.
The effects are obvious, and equals ZERO. Truth is often tragic and sad.
I agree with all views expressed here. This is definitely not the first time, we as Malaysians heard about this, in concept and in theory. Like a tape-recorder repeatedly played many times even by UMNOputra leaders themselves. Unfortunately, there is only one Tunku Abdul Rahman and UMNO is re-playing his statesmanship plus rhetorics as an "PR" exercise for the 50th BN anniversary. There is rare statesmanship in the party backbone now and the political scenario is in deep contrast to Tunku's days. To put it harshly but in truth, UMNO is merely misleading the people despite their current leadership is aeons apart from that of contemporary Alliance days. Tunku raised the spirit of Malaysians but today, UMNO can only raise the kris. UMNO do not deserve the support of moderate Malaysians any more.
