Insufficient Evidence In Body Parts Murder Case - Sole Suspect Freed

Malaysian police have freed on bail a woman who was the sole suspect in the murder of a Singapore man whose body was chopped into 11 pieces and stuffed into a refrigerator.

A newspaper said on Saturday the surprise move came after government prosecutors found there was insufficient evidence to link the 33-year-old Malaysian with the gruesome murder.

"There is lack of evidence," prosecutor Yusof Zainal Abideen was quoted by the New Straits Times as saying. "If there is new and sufficient evidence, we will consider charging her."

The remains of 39-year-old businessman Goh Yoke Seng were discovered in black bin bags at a posh apartment in Kuala Lumpur when the new owner of the apartment went to clean the unit, which had been vacant for more than three months.

A strong stench led the owner and security guard to the refrigerator, which had been sealed with masking tape.

Singapore newspapers had said the victim was believed to have been married to the woman and had been out of touch with his own family for nearly two years.
