Nature's Rapists Are On The Prowl Again.

Bukit Gasing residents are under environmental threat again, this time from a developer who wants to build bungalows on the hill. Bukit Gasing, gazetted as a green lung, belongs to Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

The Selangor side of the hill was gazetted as a forest reserve in 1961 but the status of the Kuala Lumpur side remains uncertain. The residents are ready to take up the issue with relevant authorities in an attempt to preserve the hill.

Resident Johnny Yew, 51, who has been staying in the area for about 13 years, said they had been living in fear for the past four years. "When you damage hills like this, there will surely be a backlash such as landslides or floods. These pose a great danger to us."

Another resident, a soil expert who declined to be named, said: "The soil is very loose and it is not safe to build anything on the hill as it is very steep.

"The developer, Sanctuary Gasing, is proposing to build at least 140 luxury bungalows on this hill."

A security guard at the site refused to allow Press photographers to take pictures of the recently cleared path. Another man, claiming to be a Rela member, also stood guard at the area.

Constance Westwood, a spokesperson for Sanctuary Gasing, said by email: "The development has yet to receive the approvals from the various authorities. As such, Sanctuary Gasing is unable to answer any questions at this stage in time." (NST)

**** So as you can see that after a brief respite the bastards are at it again. This Santuary Gasing group, is probably the same old crooks under a different name with one or two new Malay Datuk or Tan Sri added to the board to 'ease' and 'lubricate' matters for the imminent rape. Sort of a financial palm-greasing foreplay facilitated by titled, mercantile prostitutes in suits.

These greedy vultures in human form have been aiming, nay drooling, at whatever hillslopes that are left, to ravish and do as they please. Luckily, careful and concerned residents have thus far partially succeeded in keeping them at bay, even though the developers have the full support of the corruption ridden and bribe taking Dewan Bandaraya.

When the government recently came out with plans of imposing strict regulations on hillslope construction, the developers' Mafia was up in arms crying "unfair."

There is really nothing much more to add than what is already contained in the two links above. Suffice to say that residents have to depend on their own resources and strength to fight these rapists and plunderers of nature. Don't expect any help from the local authorities for they are the developers' comrades-in-arms and partners in crime.

The entire hill will be devoid of vegetation and all residents will see are 'luxury condominiums' and hideous mansions so favoured by the scourge known as property developers. How short our memories are, do we need another Highland Towers tragedy to stop the unchecked destruction of our environment? Add this to the growing list of environmental rape that our authorities are allowing, all in the name of 'development'.

Only in Malaysia, we can go on chooping trees, clearing forest and denuding hills in the name of development. Why can't we learn from the past incidences such as the Highland Towers incident. Why are we wait for something to happen before we set forth to making it right. How many more people must die before we get it right. Will we ever learn.

Will the peoeple we put in power be able to wipe the hands of the blood of this innocent victims. What if their family members were involved. Can they look at themselves in the mirror. Have they all sold the souls to the devil in the name of GREED.
