Classify Bloggers Says Malaysia's Gestapo Wannabe Zainuddin Maidin!

True to form this imperious proponent of press censorship (and if possible, the fast track and painful execution of those contravening his ideas of 'free speech') has once again bared his razor sharp fangs at bloggers as a whole.

According to Bernama, Information Minister Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin said today Malaysia has to 'classify' web bloggers as professionals and non-professionals as a mechanism to prevent 'misuse' of blog sites. (Misuse in 'Zamspeak' means any adverse comment against or criticism of the government.) Glaringly exposing his ignorance as well as underlining the fact that he still lives in a make believe mid-20th century dictatorship, he emphasized that "this classification will also facilitate the action to be taken against those found to have violated the country's laws."

Zainuddin Maidin was once a respected journalist who began his metamorphosis into an intolerant tyrant around the same time he made the transition from scribe to bribe (i.e. politics). Although personally he is known to be an honest man who eschews corrupt practices, his harsh, unbending views on alternative sources of news especially via the Internet has done grievous harm to his reputation and many now consider him as a person who is not only out of sync with the times but has stayed beyond the expiry date for politicians.

Those like intolerant Zam have no place in the politics of a true democracy. But our government, privately not professing to be 'fully' democratic have entrusted him with of all cabinet positions, the information portfolio! Let him challenge the bloggers. It would be an interesting duel; our version of the archaic immovable object versus the modern irresistible force.

Obviously, the good minister will label all bloggers who are pro-government as professional and those who think the present government is full of crap (which is the opinion of most of us) are totally unprofessional.
That's the mentality of our BN leaders. It's so pathetic! I feel so sorry for our country.

Good idea if this classification method is to be extended to our ministers, state councellors and others in "power". The ministers especially should be classified into categories such as honest/ dishonest, corrupt/ not corrupt, or similar description. For sure the word proffesional is not suitable.
Sometimes stupid ideas work in Malaysia because Malaysia boleh.

I pray that Zam will stand for the next general election and take the issue to the mass voters. He was quoted as saying in double-speak rhetorics, "misusing blogs for personal agendas", "causing public uneasiness", professional bloggers more responsible in publishing truthful content and were nor rumor mongers.." etc

Zam is not only pathetic. It's an understatement. He is just "bull***t". I have said before and I say it here again. His appointment is the greatest disaster in Malaysian history in the field of information. For one, his ministery controls radio and television. It's his responsible to disseminate the "truth" and all the other crap information, if you can classified that as information or just "propaganda". Anything critical of the establishment, regardless of the truth is considered "as causing public uneasiness" to incapacitated ministers like Zam. Putting the blame and fear on bloggers and blogs that would affect newspaper circulation especially advertising is itself an "elastic lie". Ask him to show proof whether this happens anywhere.

Zam, you want to know the truth. You can't even suck your own thumb efficiently. This is the 21st century and the IT will enhance democratic principles whether "cobweb" ministers like you accept the phenomenon or not. The government is incapable of spreading the truth because power corrupts. Nobody can claim or deny the principles of truth in any society. Perhaps, Zam should study history more. Paper lies cannot wrap the truth of fire. Grow up!
