People's Representatives Must Be Subservient To God, Says Abdullah. But Are They?

Our Prime Minister's exhortation to his now loyal Members of Parliament and State Assemblymen to be subservient to God and uphold the promises made to the people by carrying out their duties with full commitment sounds very good on paper. But how practical his call is and more importantly whether he actually believes what he is preaching is a totally different matter.

There are politicians in this bad world of ours who will try to cheat and bribe even God if given half a chance! Still I must say that Pak Lah is an unabashed optimist when he opined that their duties were to carry out their tasks for the people and not for personal interest because the political career that they chose was God's trust!!

Persistent in advancing the theoretical responsibilities of your average politician, Pak Lah further elucidated, "the duties of the people's representatives are heavy. At times we are showered with praises, at times we are scolded and deplored. This is a challenge. What is important, in whatever we do, we must always be sincere!!!"

I was just wondering if anyone who heard this speech, (which was read by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) even believed a single percent of what he said. Not one politician who was the target of this sermon would have in his heart of heart subscribed to this 'divine duty' theory propounded by our PM. The type of looting, betraying of the public faith, the cases of criminal breach of trust and numerous instances of corruption from the small-time to the billions of ringgit belies every claim that Pak Lah made on behalf of his fellow politicians.

He is presiding over a bunch of people in the BN, who like the rest of the population are made up of good men, selfish and greedy men, crooks and traitors to the nation. Nothing more, nothing less. Let's not get God involved in all this.

How about:

"The people's representitives must be subservient to the people"

That's much better, because god doesn't care.

norman my man, now that is a capital idea. I wonder how the politicians would react to such an 'irresponsible' proposition though!

You're so right. In the 21st century we have cut-throat land pirates, in the guise of politicians, in our country who keep on plundering the nation's coffers, hell-bent on bankrupting the country.

A long time ago when mahathir was in power I already lost faith in their politics. Now I just mind my own business and live hoping they dont interfere or intrude in my life. These politics people are like an illness. We dont need them. Just leave us alone and if you want to serve god or the devil its up to you.

Why simply take God's name in a sinful job of politics? It is insult to the God for him to be used like this. norman said "The people's representitives must be subservient to the people" that is the right way. Listen to the public and follow our liking. Also dont rob and be corrupt. Thats all i ask.
