Sabah ACA Arrests 23 Govt Employees In First Half Of 2006

Twenty-three government employees from various levels were among 32 people arrested by the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) in Sabah in the first six months of this year. The other nine included private sector employees, said the new Sabah ACA director, Latifah Mohamad Yatim, Friday. 75 per cent of them were against government employees. Based on the complaints, 286 investigation files were opened with 52 per cent of them involving false claims using purchasing orders, 26 per cent abuse of power and 18 per cent corruption per se, she said.

Well done ACA, so you have not been totally sleeping on the job. However as far as Sabah is concerned merely catching a score or so ikan bilis isn't going to slow down the rate of corruption in that unfortunate state. You see the really greedy and avaricious fish are the state politicians irrespective of which BN component party they belong to. Their only aim in politics is to make as much as they possibly can, while they still hold whatever power their Tuans in BN HQ allow them to. They know that without the support of their masters in Putrajaya they are nobody and on returning to private life there will be nothing for them to do. This is because by now the next batch of 'leaders' in the driver's seat of this gravy train called Sabah will be busy plundering from where the former pemimpin left off. So by their industriousness and speed they amass as much as they can lay their hands on, thus giving the saying "make hay while the sun shines" an entirely new and refreshing dimension.
