"I'm My Own Boss, Not Khairy Jamaluddin" Says Pak Lah.
In his most precise and unequivocal clarification to date, the Prime Minister said that he makes all his decisions on his own. He was quoted as saying, "my conscience is clear, no one is influencing my decisions for the government; my son-in-law is not my adviser."
If only he had come out a few months ago and said the same thing it would have been much easier to take his word at face value. All it took then was a simple statement emphasising in no uncertain terms that he was the boss and yes, Khairy Jamaluddin is his son-in-law, but as far as the administration of the government is concerned, he and only he(Pak Lah) takes the decisions and his son-in-law is nowhere in the picture.
In any case, better late than never. The very fact that he made this belated clarification shows that all the accusations and innuendoes about Khairy and the disproportionate influence he purportedly has over the running of the government, must have hit home hard. Also possible could be his realisation that the 'elegant silence' strategy has dramatically backfired and the time is ripe to enlighten the doubting public that he is very much in control and in charge of his administration.
Now we'll just have to wait for the reactions from the politicians and the public to this statement by the PM.

I am relieved to hear this statement, but while late is better than never, is it good enough (for some)?
