Habitual Conman Honoured With Malacca Datukship!

In The Star today is the report of another Malacca Honours recipient being found out for the crook he is in a never ending tale of misfits being awarded the Datuk title in that tiny state.

This sad fact was revealed by the DAP State Assemblyman for Bandar Hilir, Goh Leong San who said he had lodged a police report against the man on March 18 last year for allegedly using the JP title. “He was not a JP recipient,” Goh told the state assembly here yesterday, adding that the man had been listed this year for the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM) award, which carries the title 'datuk’.

“Why is this person, who is a bogus JP, receiving a datukship?” he asked, disclosing that he had also lodged five police reports against six other persons for allegedly using the titles ‘datuk’, ‘JP’ and ‘PJK’ (Pingat Jasa Kebaktian).

Responding to the allegations, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said prior to releasing the list of recipients, the state government sent it to the police headquarters in Bukit Aman for vetting. Since Goh had raised the issue, Mohd Ali said, he would refer the matter to the police.

*** The same old "police had vetted all the recipients" bullshit by Ali Rustam. Why then are so many of the datuks 'honoured' ever since he became the CM turning out to be crooks and criminals? The few inferences that can be made are that he is selling datukships not unlike in a jumble sale or perhaps an auction, is rewarding nefarious persons for undisclosed favours and using it as a 'lubricant' to further advance his career in Umno.

People in the know about the state of affairs in Malacca say that even during the time of the former CM Rahim Thamby Chik, such things were going on but never was it like at the present ridiculous levels. Rahim, they say had the balls to push the state to rapid development although his 'overactive' appendage was his letdown. In contrast Ali Rustam although a capable leader has presided over a lot of unsavoury business deals and is largely responsible for the stigma attached to Malacca datukships.

I have on several occasions mentioned about the doubtful and suspicious criteria used for selection as well as the disgrace some of these datuks are.
