Rebutting Pak Lah - Mahathir Employs Low Blows?
Definition of low blow - An unscrupulous attack; an insult. Would the following statements by Dr Mahathir be considered a low blow?
A day after Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi went on television to refute allegations about his son-in-law's influence, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad again targeted the 30-year-old and suggested he could be responsible for devising government policies.
He said as the Oxford-educated Khairy Jamaluddin wrote the Prime Minister's speeches, Datuk Seri Abdullah could well be delivering the policies of his son-in-law. 'He says that he is in control, and Khairy merely writes his speeches for him,' Tun Dr Mahathir said, referring to Datuk Seri Abdullah.
'A speech writer is very good - he writes, and the PM will deliver your speech for you. I don't know if a speech writer can insert anything into the speech but I think a speech writer is quite a powerful person. 'Because you deliver speeches on policy written by your speech writer, you are delivering the policy of the speech writer, not yourself.'
Some would say 'yes' and others 'no'. It depends on how you view the situation or more exactly whose side you are on.
First things first. One of the reasons that the PM went on air was to counter allegations of nepotism involving his son Kamaluddin Abdullah and son-in-law Khairy. Actually he didn't have to, just because of Dr Mahathir's allegations. If it were to clear the air as far as the public was concerned, I don't think he did a very convincing job. In fact the general consensus is that he raised more questions than providing answers. However please remember that it was Mahathir who more or less institutionalised cronyism and nepotism in the first place and now to crib about it to the whole world is rather rich!
If Dr M feels betrayed by Abdullah's decision to shelve some state projects that were proposed by the previous government, it does not give him the right to bring the whole government down with his tirades. Admittedly he is a very powerful person in or out of power and he must recognise that before going on a fault finding spree. Would he himself have reacted so gentlemanly as Pak Lah has, if the roles were reversed, or would there have been one more new resident at Kamunting, is what all Mahathir's new found admirers should seriously ask themselves. Don't blindly lash out at at the government of the day because an old tyrant 'sounds' right to you.
So folks, carefully read whatever Dr M says over the next few days and first ask yourself if he,
a) is justified in his statements, and
b) engages in low blows as there are no more serious issues to exploit.

The old man is running out of ammo.
He got a point, no matter what he said, what he did during his premiership, in fact is duplicated by his successor, in fact more worst, At least he admitted what he has done, such as selling sands to Singapore. This is not the clash among UMNO, but a sensetive case regarding to KJ, what some people viewed as traitor, draining Malasian asset to outsiders. Stupid voters cheated by using the media, showing off as imam, Islam Hadari, he plundered the people and almost everything is on the rise. At least the old man listen to citizen complain about commodity an utility rise, though his cruelty is unquestionable.
