Good News For MyKad Laggards.
Since June 1, MyKad applicants can get the cards in 24 hours.
Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Radzi Sheikh Ahmad said this was the result of the National Registration Department's proactive step to speed up MyKad issuing process.
Despite that, 199,864 people have not claimed their cards within three months, he said at his ministry's monthly assembly here today.
He urged those who had not claimed their MyKads to do so quickly before the cards were destroyed.
Radzi also urged the ministry's staff to continue to work hard despite the criticism levelled at the current administration by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"I am sad with what is happening," he said, hoping that the matter would be resolved amicably. (Of course this is damage control on the part of Radzi who openly supported the PM and which drew harsh comments from Dr M).
