Forget Mahathir Spat, Focus On Development Says PM.
Urging the people to get their priorities straight, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Wednesday that Malaysians should not let themselves be distracted by the current political polemics to the extent of forgetting the basic objective of continuing the development of the country.
"We don't have much time and it would be a loss if that time is not used fully to bring success."My primary responsibility, apart from to Allah, is to the people who support me," he said.
Referring to the mandate given by the people, he said the government would focus on closing the economic divide between people in the rural and urban areas, eradicate poverty and rejuvenate the agricultural sector. He explained that these goals formed the foundation of the National Mission that he had outlined when tabling the Ninth Malaysia Plan in Parliament.
However, he said, it required a big effort and the support of all levels of society. As such, Abdullah said, the people must be prepared to add value to themselves by increasing their knowledge and commitment while holding firmly to moral values. "We want everyone to have a better quality of life when the nation achieves the goal of a developed nation," he said.
**** The PM is right when he says that economic development must be the main agenda and the public should take the present spat in their stride. After all Mahathir has had his 22 years in power and it is time that Pak Lah was allowed to work unimpeded by anyone. To stymie the government as what Mahathir is doing now only serves to hinder the progress of the nation and each and every one of us is affected as a result; and all because of what? - the disaffections of one man!

"and all because of what? - the disaffections of one man!"
No. It is not ONE man, many many people are unsatisfied!
If you talk about the previous strong mandate given by Malaysian, it was because he has made great promises which I'm doubtful he has done it all.
I donot wish to make any accusation on our PM, but look at his past 3 years performance and the amount of negative comments hurled at him, that's enough for me. And someone said allow him to carryon in his own way? Remember, he said he has his own style?
