Radzi Sheikh Ahmad Tries His Hand At Spinning.
Umno Secretary-General Datuk Seri Radzi Sheikh Ahmad said the stand taken by Umno's Supreme Council (MT) not to take disciplinary action against Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad showed that "the party was big hearted."
He said that Umno being a big political party, the issue of the former prime minister criticising the party's leadership was seriously discussed at Thursday's MT meeting. "All the MT members voiced their opinions and the decision arrived at was unanimous," he said when met after attending Arau Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Syed Razlan Syed Putra Jamalullail's Hari Raya open house here Friday.
However, Radzi said that Dr Mahathir's actions would be monitored and that these would determine whether further action would be taken against him. "Should a need arise for Umno to take sterner action, it will be done," he said when asked to comment on the MT decision as some quarters in Umno had called for his party membership to be suspended and that he also be fired from advisory posts in the government.
Radzi said the MT meeting did not only discuss issues on Dr Mahathir but also various others concerning Umno and the government. "Umno president, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi also briefed on his four-eyed meeting with Dr Mahathir recently (22 Okt)," he said.
He said that Abdullah had informed about the issues that had been raised by Dr Mahathir and that these would be explained to the people at a suitable time.
**** So our dear friend Radzi who has been a little quiet these days after the flak he got for banning the film The Last Communist and then foolishly attempting to justify it, is back with a bang! While trying to explain away Umno's reluctance to or fear of punishing Dr Mahathir he ropes in positive words like 'big heart' to give a semuanya ok feel. Not bad for an average spinner.
However why was Zakaria Md Deros let off with a minor rap on the knuckles? Another large hearted gesture? Perhaps the spin doctors in Umno may not know but their medical doctors will tell you that a large heart is called cardiomegaly, a potentially serious condition and is often associated with other serious medical conditions.
In a way Radzi spoke the truth, albeit unwittingly. The 'large hearted' Umno is probably also in a potentially serious and possibly debilitating state!
