Race Baiting Ignoramus Abdul Ghani's Diatribe, Motive And Sanity Questioned.
It had to happen. When common sense prevails and everyone has had time to digest the racist and provocative speech of that idiot extraordinaire, Johor MB Abdul Ghani Othman, a colourless, talentless, middling and piddling politician, who is where he is because of Devil's luck, the more rational amongst us both Malay and non-Malay will perforce have to speak out.
And speak out they did, in large numbers. Although the DPM was largely ambivalent the same cannot be said about the legally learned Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Rais Yatim who described Ghani's contention as back-pedalling.
"We would be back-pedalling to say Bangsa Malaysia is unacceptable," said Rais. "It has worked well for years. Furthermore, it makes more sense to address Malaysians with a simple Bangsa Malaysia instead of saying ‘orang’ Melayu, Cina, India, Kadazan, and others," he said when commenting on Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman’s caution of the dire consequences of advocating Bangsa Malaysia since it could cause political instability.
Rais said: "I fail to see why the word was raised politically. It is not a political or constitutional issue. It is more to unite Malaysians under one umbrella". Rais also disagreed with Ghani who said advocating Bangsa Malaysia was going beyond the legal powers of the Constitution.
"Firstly, the word Bangsa Malaysia is not found in the Constitution. It is a way to address Malaysians as one. It is to bring us together," he said.
He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had used the word to address Malaysians irrespective of race and religion. "It has helped to unite and encourage openness within different races in Malaysia," he added.
Rais also disagreed with Ghani’s contention that the term should only be applied in the context of all peoples of Malaysia with Malays being the pivotal race. "Bangsa Malaysia represents the spirit of Malaysians of different races and culture. It has nothing to do with one race given a pivotal role over others," he said.
Rais said he would continue advocating Bangsa Malaysia as it had helped his ministry to unite different cultures. "There is nothing wrong with being rojak. It has helped my ministry to organise various cultural activities under the banner of a Malaysian race," he added. (NST)
In firmly rejecting the nonsensical theory put forward by the life president of Ignoramuses Anonymous, Abdul Ghani Othman, the MCA President Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting said that Bangsa Malaysia is the soul of the nation.
Other rational men and women who have the genuine interests of the country in mind and who prize national unity over the advantages of personal advancement and profit, also spoke up.
However many of Umno's loudmouths have been uncharacteristically quiet. Perhaps they are waiting to see which way the wind blows before opening their oral cavity. They are a flexible lot. If Pak Lah condemns Ghani then these leeches will nod piously in agreement. (Can't be seen to be too harsh with a wira bangsa.) However if the PM was to give a Najib style wishy-washy statement, then you can surely see the rabid racists of Umno crawling out of the woodwork to publicly vomit and spit their venom. In public, I said. In private however they will continue merrily with their close 'brotherly' connections with their Chinese business partners. For these fraudsters, including Ghani, money takes precedence over Bangsa dan Negara.

Dear Malaysian,
Last week a group from the Tourism Ministry together with a whole lot of business cronies held a big party in Dublin, all part of our Visit Malaysia Year 2007 Campaign.(curtesy of the tax-paying citizens of Malaysia...hic, whoa... the wine was flowing... !!)
What bothered some who attended this colourful function (mind you-by invitation only)and who have visited Malaysia before, was the lack of other races taking part in this very cultural event! Yes there were different cultural dances depicting Malay, Chinese,Indian and East Malaysian dances but the entire troupe was made up of only one type of people, malays !!!!My foreign friends called me to state their dissatisfaction and gross misrepresentation of this very plural society that we live in and say "Is this what your government wants to potray to the world, what happened to the rest of the races"? Malaysia has been and IS only famous for its diverse inter-mingling of at least 3 dorminant shades of people- who make Malaysia what it is today"!
Get real Mr. Tourism -please walk the talk !!!Talk about "bangsa Malaysia " konon !
Very good example shanghaistephen, of the 'couldn't care less for the others' stance. Why let some of 'them' enjoy at government expense, let's do everything by ourselves attitude, that is prevalent in almost all spheres involving Malaysian officialdom overseas. I wouldn't be surprised if in future Chinese New Year or Deepavalli celebrations abroad is also monopolised by 'official' delegates and representatives, provided the festivals aren't declared haram by then.
