Genuine Figures Released in Parliament Today - 80 Per Cent Beggars Rehabilitated.

Between 70 to 80 per cent of beggars who were placed at the Desa Bina Diri beggars centre were able to turn over a new leaf, the Dewan Rakyat was told Thursday.

Women, Family and Community Development Ministry Parliamentary Secretary Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun said, the remainder normally returned to their old ways. She was answering a supplementary question from Datuk Lim Bee Kau (BN-Padang Serai), in Dewan Rakyat here.

Answering a question from Datuk Ismail Abdul Mutalib (BN-Maran), Chew said, beggars aged 60 and below who were placed at the centres in Mersing and Jerantut were given vocational training in tailoring, hair-cutting, carpentry, bakery, agriculture and animal husbandry.

Beggars who possessed the ability to do business were given aid by the Welfare Department to start business while those aged 60 and above who were sick were given shelter at Rumah Seri Kenangan.

Chew said, according to statistics, the number of beggars had declined following these measures.

Foreign beggars were referred to the Immigration Department for further action which might include deporting them.

**** I was indeed pleased that there was across the board agreement in Parliament at least on these figures relating to beggars. If you had expected a post on some 'other category' of beggars I'm sorry to disappoint you. There are already enough articles in this blog.

Is it?
Then why I just donated to at least three of them today, two yesterday and much more the days before that...
As day passes maybe soon I'll turn to be one...Better income bro...
Funny to think that,as if they know what time and where do i go for my breakfast, lunch or dinner. As if they are there, just waiting for me at these 'makan' shops..
At least the ministry would not mind sharing with us, the methodology on how they reach the figure in this case,I guess...

Refering to your previous blog, we the non-Malays are the most tolerant people in Malaysia - For we have been giving "alms" to these priveleged beggars to lead a luxrious life for >30 years.
Instead of showing gratitude, these beggars become bolder & start to threaten us! How ungrateful they are.
