Deluded Samy Vellu Says That MIC On Track To Realise Vision!!
Sounding more like a schizophrenic version of the Martin Luther King Jr "I have a dream" speech, MIC President Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu gave a rosy picture of the future of the Indians in Malaysia. While acknowledging some problems still exist he seems confident of the 'success' of the MIC in overcoming them. His fairy tale here:
The MIC is on track in realising its vision to transform the Indian community towards self-reliance, dignity and progress in a modern and developed nation.
President Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said the party had achieved this through its mission to organise, motivate and mobilise the community through grassroots programmes and projects.
"Through our party's various social machinery, we have undertaken various programmes and projects to uplift the standard of living of the Indian community," he said in his Deepavali message. The festival of lights will be celebrated by the Hindus on Saturday.
Samy Vellu said women, especially single mothers, who were once without power and hope, have now been empowered to be self-reliant and independent. "With this, they now have hope for their children and themselves and an opportunity to come out of the poverty cycle and marginalisation," he said.
For the youth, Samy Vellu said they now had opportunities to take up skills training in the various government-run skills training institutions.
On social ills, he said, the party had introduced social recovery programmes to address the ills and issues affecting Indians. This include carrying out community surveys and analysis and implementing appropriate remedial programmes," he said.
In the education front, Samy Vellu said the MIC-run Asian Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology would soon be ready to produce more Indian professionals in the country.
In the next 15 years, he said, it would be critical for Malaysia in the race to achieve the goals of Vision 2020 to turn Malaysia into a developed country. "Within this period there will be three Malaysia Plans. There will be National Economic Consultative Council III (NECC III) and formulation of the 4th Outline Perspective Plan.
"What will be in store for the Indian community? How should we strategise to ensure the policies and programmes are more inclusive to address concerns of the bottom 30 per cent of the Indian community? These are the questions to be answered," he said.
**** It would be good if Indian readers of this blog could give their opinion on the overview provided by the MIC President.

Semi value finally admitted he had been off track all these years he is at helm. No need to cut wires, saw off fencing and take mainholes covers for a living finally. Shamefully, this admission comes far late, after few decades. What an embrassment to our Semi Value.
As usual, the marginalised & poor majority group will always get sweet-talked by these policians-be it poor Indians, poor Malays or poor non-bumis. Come General Election day, these poor & marginalised group will keep on voting them into power, dreaming that they will guard their ethnic group's interest. Instead, these politicians will be busy enriching themselves first.
Samy said he would always prefer to have behind-door talk & forums with his UMNO taiko/boss. What are they talking or discussing behind-door, nobody knows except he & his MIC VIPs. After "talking" behind-door for 30 years, has the Indian's status/position improved compare to other ethnic groups?
In fact, most of the low cost flat area, "poor" area(I prefer not to use "slum") you would see the poor Indians & the illegal immigrants.
Actually he is on track.... but the track was built heading to the drain..... *shake head*
