What A Coincidence, Negeri Sembilan MB!

The generous gesture of the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Dato' Seri Mohamad Hassan recently has delighted soccer fans in that state. Two days ago he announced that the Malaysia Cup semi-finals match between Negeri Sembilan Naza (NS Naza) and Melaka Telekom (TMFC) which is being held at the Stadium Paroi today, will be free-of-charge for the fans! Not discounted tickets or rebates, but absolutely 100% free.

The kind-hearted Menteri Besar explained that this munificence was his way of thanking the rakyat for the support that they have given the state government especially during the one day working visit by the PM recently. Therefore as a gesture of his gratitude to the people, as well as boosting the morale of the state soccer team, he declared that no payment will be needed to watch the semi-finals today. What a sacrifice indeed that gesture is; and a financially expensive one at that. Never before in the history of state football at the Piala Malaysia level has a match, let alone a semi-final, tidak dikenakan bayaran tiket.

Then just as you are thinking of awarding Mohd Hassan the 'best MB in the world' title, it is revealed that the real reason for this financially draining sacrifice was because that this very afternoon Dr Mahathir is due to speak at Pekan Johol, Kuala Pilah. What better way to reduce the number of people who would otherwise have gone to listen to Mahathir's rants than offer free admission to the semi-final match?

Of course I'm sure that the large-hearted MB would deny that it had anything to do with Dr M's presence. It's all a big coincidence you see!

keith,> while the free part is one thing, the very idea of willing to lose tens of thousands of ringgit in ticket sales merely to prevent one speech by the former PM is a total abuse of power. And to spin it as a token of gratitude to the public shows a devious mind.

This is unfair. Today I read only 300 people went to mahathir ceramah, because of free tiket for the game. If not at least 1000 expected. I hope MB is very happy. Penakut.

tonixe, you do make a lot of sense.
gol-gol-gol, yes it is not only unfair but as you mentioned it is cowardly too. The MB is trying to curry favour with the Umno big bosses.

Friends who went saw 1,000 in attendance of Tun's ceramah. Not only was there a free football match to distract, there was a pop yeh yeh concert in kuala pilah to create a traffic jam and 3 free makan at the cawangan area.

And yet Pak Lah and Dato Radzi claim Tun can speak wherever he please to teh members. not to mention a HQ party machinery in Kubang pasu that has successfully reduced Tun's nomination from 60 to 15.

Not to mention squashing attempts in Perlis and god where else I do not know.

Why are they so scared if they had not done any wrong?
