Siti Nurhaliza and Khalid were officially married at 11.40 am in a ceremony full with customs and traditions which was attended by more than 1,500 guests. Asked about her marriage solemnisation ceremony, Siti Nurhaliza was grateful that it went smoothly and she was officially Khalid's wife now.
"Siti hopes this is a beginning of a new phase in Siti's life and God willing, Siti and Datuk Khalid will together maintain harmony and live our life as husband and wife with patience," she said and confessed to frequently recite prayers to overcome the jitters prior to the marriage ceremony.
On her wedding ring, Siti Nurhaliza said the solitaire diamond studded white gold ring was specially ordered with its design chosen by Khalid himself. "Siti left it to Datuk Khalid to choose the ring because he has his own taste. Saying that family life is new to her, Siti Nurhaliza hoped that with guidance from her husband and prayers from all quarters, she would be able to fit into her new role well.
At the ceremony, Tarudin, clad in dark green baju melayu, was in tears when Siti went to seek her parents' blessing after the marriage solemnisation. Asked about the "Datin" title, Siti Nurhaliza said she preferred to be referred to as Siti. "Call me Siti like before ... just Siti. Unless if necessary at functions (with protocol), Siti can't refuse," she said, adding that she would also not use the title in her albums.
On her singing career, Siti Nurhaliza said she would continue to build up her career despite being married. "Siti will go through life as usual.
