'Close One Eye' Jasin MP Opens His Mouth, Again.

The Malaysian Ophthalmology Society should give an award to the Jasin MP Datuk Mohd Said Yusof for singlehandedly promoting that essential organ, the eye, nationwide. However I don't think that they will be too inclined to bestow any honour in a hurry. Neither I'm sure will the Oral Surgeons for that matter, on the propensity of the honourable Ahli Parlimen to exercise the other organ in his artillery - his big mouth.

Yesterday Mohd Said gave extra work to his vocal cords when he criticised the Royal Malaysian Customs, accusing the department of not being consistent in its enforcement.

He said the inconsistency was clear in determining the size of logs that could be imported in the country. For example, the customs at the Linggi Port only allowed the import of logs measuring less than 60 inches but in Tawau, even logs measuring over 600 inches were allowed in, he said.

Realising that Said had gone off course, Deputy Speaker Datuk Lim Si Cheng reminded him to focus on the Bill that was being debated but Said kept up his attacks despite several reminders from Lim.

Said has been involved in a series of controversies with the department, after he was have said to have told customs enforcement officers in Melaka to "close one eye" on the entry of timber from Indonesia and also had questioned the manner in which cars seized by the authority were sold.

Today, he also said that the Linggi Port in Melaka was no longer a busy port and one of the possible reasons was that too many rules were being imposed on goods brought through it. The Malaysian government should take a more open attitude in respect of the rules for the import of goods, he said.

Singapore only banned four items from its port - smuggling of drugs, firearms, humans and cigarettes, he said.

**** Clearly his is a self-serving denunciation. He apparently does not care about any other department except the Customs Department because his personal business dealings are all directly involved with them. And this is the type of BN MP that we are expected to hormat?

There are so many talented, caring and industrious Malays who will make excellent MPs, yet Umno has to choose creatures whose only known qualities are selfishness and greed to be their wakil. Perhaps before the next elections either this gentleman can be shown the exit or convicted in a court of law for practising, aiding and abetting corruption.
