PPP's Kavyeas Goes One Up On Nik Aziz - Suggests Dissolution Of BN Component Parties, Formation Of New BN Party

The People's Progressive Party (PPP) has suggested that all Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties be dissolved and a new BN party be formed.

PPP president Datuk M. Kayveas said the proposal by PAS Spiritual Leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat that PAS and Umno be dissolved was a logical proposal but it needed to be extended to all BN component parties.

"In Malaysia, there is no need to have several parties, just have a BN party, and Pakatan Rakyat, and PPP agrees with the proposal by 'Tok Guru' (Nik Aziz)," he told reporters Monday.

Three days ago in Machang, Nik Aziz, who is also Kelantan menteri besar, proposed that PAS and Umno be dissolved and a single party based on Islam be formed.

Kayveas said the PAS-Umno merger would only solve Malay unity and the issue of Islam but a BN party would resolve inter-racial and inter-religious issues, as well.

On DAP's dissatisfaction with PAS' proposal for Umno and PAS to dissolve and form one party, Kayveas suggested that the DAP merge with Parti Keadilan Rakyat and form a new party. (Bernama)

***** While on paper the idea is a good one, whether it is practical is another question. In any case what possible difference can it make if the BN is dissolved and then a virtual clone is recreated? A better move, as daring and risky as it may seem, would be to form a brand new BN WITHOUT Umno. I'm sure that there will be more moderate Malay groups who could eventually fill the gaping hole left behind by Umno's exclusion. Food for thought.

The party of BN will not be dissolved, no matter what happens. Because in the past history had taught us that a party will succeed if members share the same characteristics and importance within it, and the components joined despite of radical and extremist ideology of the opposition parties which will oppress their influence and the public in their states and country.

I agree that there is absolutely no point nor use with a clone of the existing problems. but with all these dissolving and merging, I can't help but wonder what's the price these politicians are bartering with each other.

Once in awhile, in order to remain looking important, politicians need to come out with such "genius" ideas. Guess who's turn is next?

the idea is cool.but not to implement it?i'm not 100% sure if it could be done cus for sure it will gonna take huge huge measures and adjustment.if we were only meant to have 2 system party, then we are the same as the States;democrat and republic.but are we ready for that?the political system that we have now is an chaos already.fix and make use of what we have for now.

i agree with wisdomthinker. What they are trying to do now is putting two parties into a new party.
They may have the same characteristics but they may not share the same necessary elements and ideology.
If they refuse to understand and accomodate each other's whims then, t would be a disaster.

Anonymous,
Sorry Kavyeas, that is never going to happen as long as umno leads BN. After the demise of umno it may happen, reason is umno is supreme council is made up of corrupt people all the way from President down including all the divisional chief. They have had it too good for too long. The day umno is gone BN can become a multi-racial party and umno is only one component party and not holding full power, till then Mr Kavyeas you can keep on dreaming. Save your breath or join PKR, as it is already a multi-racial party, or seen to be one. PPP can stay on BN and be insignificant or irrevelant just as it is now, no one pay any attention to PPP.

Shut up Kavyeas. You were insulted to the hilt in Malacca, lost in the GE, and several parties had put u to shame. Dissolve PPP first and join enbloc either with PKR, DAP or PAS. You were made to look like a laughing stock, a disgrace to the indians. What are u waiting for.

Dissolving the BN is unlikely to achieve anything as long as the parties are still preaching race-based politics. By virtue of their names - UMNO, MCA, MIC and some others, they are driven by ehtnic concerns more than anything.

A party like say, Gerakan, which purports to be multi-racial, has no place in the BN I would think. PPP is also purposrtedly non-racial.

So both of these "non-racial" parties should exit and join the other side of the present divide which justaposes racial politics vs non-racial politics.

In short, Kayveas, no need to dissolve. Just cross over if you truly stick to the principles of your party !!!

As long as Umno plays along racial line, Kayveas knows it will never work other than mere lip service for him who is nobody in BN to regain some glitter. Imagine the kingmakers in Umno giving up the bounty just to accommodate others in the new one party BN….the sun will rise from the west.
