PM Okays Mercedes For Terengganu Government, Says MB

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has given his blessings to the state government to use the Mercedes E200 Kompressors as official cars.

Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said said this at a press conference here today.

A few days earlier the Terengganu state government had defended the purchase of 14 Mercedes E200 Kompressor cars at RM3.43mil for the use of its state executive councillors and senior officials.

Ahmad Said had said that the state government had planned to purchase the cars for 'a long time' to replace its Proton Perdana V6 Executive fleet in a move to cut cost.

The deputy prime minister had waded into the issue by saying that the cabinet, among others, would discuss whether the move was appropriate, while adding that "I'm using the national car and the prime minister too, is using the national car."

Given that statement what exceptional situation has made Ahmad Said so special to be given the 'PM's blessings'? It in fact sets a very bad precedent and the PM should have been more careful in allowing the state government to get away with this financial misadventure.

Even at this critical juncture in Pak Lah's career he seems unable to display any leadership qualities, especially the political will to take an unpopular decision against a fellow umnoputera.

"Hello, I quoted this from Dr. Chua ssoi lek article which I found to be useful for describing your article regarding about the usage of merz compared to proton perdana. U can check it anyway at (http://drchua9.blogspot.com/).

"Some Malaysians may be nationalistic in the wrong way. We are proud of the production of the Proton but pride should not blind us to the fact where quality is concerned, Proton can never measure up to Mercedes. While the initial outlay may be more expensive to purchase Mercedes as compared to Proton Perdana (differences of about RM70, 000), the reality of it is that high cost of maintenance of Proton Perdana Executive is a well known to any members of administration, who uses Proton Perdana Executive.

For long distance travel, it is safer and more comfortable to travel in Mercedes than Proton Perdana Executive. It is a question of value for money. Since there is substantial savings in maintenance between a Mercedes and Proton Perdana Executive in the long term over a period of 5-6 years, it is wiser to purchase a Mercedes. It’s a question of value for money plus safety. To me, it is as simple as that. Don’t be penny wise and pound foolish. We can be patriotic in many other ways."

maybe Pak Lah just wanna Datuk Ahmad Said the chance to use the Mercedes.if he still complaint about the maintenance cost or anything else, then he and the gang gonna get it.huh!.Perhaps Pak Lah take this "said and done".move on and see what will happen.i dont know about the fate of all the Perdanas' though.

in the meantime, hopefully Proton will learn something out of all this and dont take this for granted.bring back the faith of people to Proton!

Everyone seem to be comparing the maintenance cost of Perdana vs Mercedes. The question that should be asked is, Are we sure that eventually, the cost of maintaining the Mercs is going to be less? The obsence cost in maintaining the Perdanas for the last 4 years is suspect, meaning it is a scam. Perdana owners will laugh in your face if you mentioned the said sum to them. If the same scam continues with the Mercs, you can bet your last ringgit that the cost will be in the millions too, probably more because the YBs will tell you that Merc parts are more expensive than Proton.

Anonymous,
If anyone has any further doubts about Protons quality, Badawi by agreeing to Terengganu's purchase confirms it. Secondly if anyone still has any doubts on how stupid Badawi is, this also confirms the doubt. He can say he is PM for all but we know better, he is PM for only umno. The idiots in MCA and MIC still are with him, this also confirms the stupidity of these two race based party. Perhaps Badawi will give all MCA and MIC MPS a Mercedes each to hang on to his dying BN government. PM is the biggest hypocrite and if the stupid umno grass roots still cannot see that, it also confirms the fact umno is full of stupid members who has been sodomised by Badawi, Najib, MohdX2 and still does not feel it, I wonder how big the arseholes are to have totally no feelings.
Screw Bodowi and his lot.

Umnoputeras are now a bunch of bandits without a gang head. Each subgroup of bandits goes on its rampage path at the expense of the Malaysian people. Only Pakatan Rakyat can save the day.

Stupid decision. Allowed Mercedes to be used as official cars for visiting dignitaries and visitors only. This means 2 things:1)State govt to maintain 2 fleets , incurring additional cost, or 2) this is just a cover-up, Exco will be allowed to use the Mercedes after the issue quiet down.
