MIC To Push For More PSD Scholarships. There's No Point Pushing, Just Leave The BN

The MIC Thursday expressed dissatisfaction over the low percentage of Public Service Department (PSD) overseas scholarships allocated for Indian students and hope the government will increase the number, party president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said.

He said last year only 34 Indian students had been successful in their application.

The party received 194 appeals, some of them securing 12A1 in their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations, Samy Vellu said in a statement.

The party has prepared a list of the 194 appeal cases comprising among others, two student with 12A1, three student with 11A1 and 41 student with 10A1.

"I will request the MIC representative in the Cabinet (Human Resource Minister Datuk Dr. S. Subramanianm) to bring up the appeal cases in the next Cabinet meeting (on Friday)," he said.

Samy Vellu said he had also discussed the matter with the Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Sidek Hassan and would follow up with him soon on the matter.

"I hope the government will consider the appeals by the students, especially those with excellent grades," he said, adding that some of the parents of the students were from poor background.

He suggested that the PSD set a minimum requirement similar to that for the matriculation courses in selected universities and Form Six in fully-aided schools where PSD scholarships would be offered to all students who scored 9As in their SPM. (Bernama)

***** All that these appeals will do is to get a few more morsels thrown at the doorstep of the PSD for the MIC to pick up like a stray dog.

The long term solution is for the MIC to get real, accept the fact that the bastards who are ruling and administering have no qualms in discriminating even the most impoverished high achiever and leave the BN at the earliest.

At this point in time the Pakatan Rakyat offers the most sensible and fair alternative. There is no shame in admitting that the MIC has been wrong all these years in supporting racists and supremacists. If they make the move now, chances are that the other spineless lackeys like the MCA and Gerakan will sooner or later follow suit. Then we can put the the true betrayers of the nation's trust in their place.

After so many years of conditioning its hard for MIC, MCA, Gerakan and PPP to change. To make such big a mindshift calls for courage.

WHEN WILL THESE BEGGARS EVER LEARN?!!!!!
They are not going to get anything from the bloody corrupted & Racist UMNO!
Either that or the MIC is just trying to show the people (& the INdians who finally do not believe them anymore!) that they are "working" hard.

Is Dato Dr Samy Velu so naive not to know that the PUTRAS care a damn for who he is or what MIC is. Everyone knows that the days of the MIC have long gone. Why go on flogging the dead horse anymore. and, please Sir, why must Samy Velu continue on bended kneees beg for scholarships.

Have we seen the MCA or the Chinese begging in the manner that the Indians do. Must the Government always have to look after the Indians. Is it not time for the Indians to look after themselves? So long as you have leaders of the present ilk in MIC and other similar Parties there will be no change of mindset. Instead of thinking Malaysian - they go on thinking on racial lines and stop intelligent persons or pressure groups from getting into the Parties so that the present leadership can continue to savour the riches of public ill gotten office.

Dear Dato. It is time that you encouraged Indians to stand on their own feet instead of making beggars out of them. If the marginalised so called Putras want to beg the UMNOPUTRAS for largesees and privileges - let them do so. So long as they continue to beg and expect the Nation to look after them, they will NEVER EVER rise up to the levels reached by their other fellow men.

A great idea has now come about. Is it NOT time for MIC to leave BN and get ineo a multi racial Malaysian party in the long term interests of this Nation as a whole.

We cant always expect the government to do things for us. Sometimes we have to have other means too. There are also a handful of Malay or Chinese students, not only Indians who did not get scholarships even though they have excellent results. What to do, gone are the das where getting 7, 8, 9As in SPM is suffiecient. Nowadays its all 12As and above to get scholarships.

So it comes down to how much you really want it. If the offer to get scholarship is turned down, fine, work at other ways. Use loans, apply scholarships from other companies or parties (there are so many to choose from), or for future parents, why not start having an education fund for your own children and not BEG for anyhting from someone else.

If you really want something, you should work hard at getting it.

Dr M failed the Indian community?

WHO IS THE 'BABI HUTAN"?

It was shameful to read from the Newspapers, over the decades, that this Indian School or that Indian School needed money to fix the leaky roof or renovation. And only for a few hundred thousand $$$.

I get very upset whenever such news appear in the Papers especially during the Mahatir era.

An "impotent" people's representative who worked for an "omnipotent" master? So, is it on bended knees? I will be very thankful if someone was to plead for me on bebded knees!!! Sounds more like a prostrate problem. You know what that is...can dribble but not piss strong[kaki goyang-lah].

YES, looked more like LIKE AN ORANG UPAH THAN A PARTNER IN BN.

'p'-LEADING FOR FAVOURS? YES, THEY ALL NEED TO BE SEEN AS DOING IT[remember...it is politics...to get grassroots support]. You see, most times it is a little 'p' in the mouth, and a big 'P' in their POCKETS. It is not a big 'D' to DEMAND, as a respectable p-ARTNER in BN.

Where is the "DARE TO STRUGGLE, DARE TO CHALLENGE, DARE TO WIN, DARE TO GO TO JAIL" in the leadership?.

YOU PLEAD FOR LENIENCY WHEN YOU ARE IN THE WRONG. Do you dare to DEMAND for your p-ARTNER'S Rights?
