Police Deny Rumours Of Karpal's Arrest
Penang Acting Police Chief Datuk Salleh Mat Rasid on Tuesday denied rumours that DAP Chairman Karpal Singh had been arrested.
"Don't listen to rumours, we've not arrested him," Salleh told Bernama when contacted.
Text messages had been going around in Penang today claiming that the police would arrest the Bukit Gelugor member of parliament.
Meanwhile, Salleh said the investigation papers pertaining to Karpal's statement, questioning the right of the Sultan of Perak in ordering the reinstatement of Perak Islamic Religious Department director Datuk Jamry Sury, had been handed over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor.
Salleh said the case was being investigated under Section 4(1)(b) of the Sedition Act 1948.
Police recorded Karpal's statement for about two hours at his office in Jalan Green Hall here on Saturday.
***** Many have opined that arresting Karpal Singh or in any way intimidating him over the issue would be counter-productive for the nation's image and Umno's already sullied reputation.

badawi trying to do a mahathir? lizard pretending to be crocodile?
Abdullah & Gang is very desperate these days and need to whack KS to divert attention.
It's not a matter of intimidating Karpal (you can't do that anyway) or trying to restore UMNO's image (the olny image they have is one of rot, corruption, cronyism, racism & the list goes on...).
It's a matter of what is right. He has only has not questioned the Sovereignty of the Royalty & therefore has done nothing wrong.
They (UMNO & AAB) has forgotten te statements they made a few weeks ago in questioning the Sultan of Kedah & Terengganu (our Agong)!
Why arrest Karpal when monkeys who insulted the Sultan of Trengganu have gone free. One more reasons for BNs downfall. Only AAB can't see it.
