Najib: ACA Men Will Be Stationed At Key Govt Depts & Agencies. Start With The Defence Ministry Please

The Government is willing to consider recruiting more Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) officers and station them at various Government-Linked Companies (GLCs), government departments and agencies if the move results in higher revenue.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak noted that the departments and agencies recording higher earnings were those offering counter services to facilitate the public to pay their bills.

“However, if we deploy two or three ACA officers in the GLCs and agencies and such a move results in the Government getting extra income of several million ringgit, it is then a new form of investment.

“Yes, the Government is willing to increase the manpower if the earnings are higher than the cost of placing the officers in the GLCs,” he told reporters after presenting bags of goodies to 185 people who are going to Mecca to perform the haj here yesterday.

Najib, who is also Pekan MP, was asked to comment on a news report on Saturday quoting ACA deputy director-general Datuk Abu Kassim Mohamed as saying earnings had increased after its officers were deployed to monitor several agencies.

Abu Kassim cited an example of Amanah Raya Berhad which collected RM40mil last year compared with RM19mil in 2005 and RM3mil in 2004 after ACA officers were stationed there for two years.

However, Najib said it also showed that some form of monitoring was required on certain agencies and GLCs to curb shortcomings and corruption. (By Roslina Mohamad, The Star)

***** Why the ACA has suddenly developed courage to bare its fangs can form an entire discussion by itself. Suffice to say that it is now serving as investigative errand boy to certain factions in Umno in a behind-the-scene power play prior to the next GE.

The ACA should not worry about loose change and pocket money that is being bilked from government department counter services. That can be handled by removing taklimat and mesyuarat obsessed
heads of department and appointing efficient and knowledgeable officials selected strictly on merit and proven capability. They should instead concentrate on those political thieves who have robbed the nation blind, to the tune of billions of ringgit.

After the MIG fighter jet and submarine scandals among others, the Defence Ministry deserves pride of place in the ACA list of where mega crooks reside and decide. The other such places would be Public Works, Transport, and the Malacca CM's office to mention a few.

But the larger question arises. Does the ACA have the guts to really do it?

Of course not, they are the spineless castrated lapdogs of the BN government.
Nothing is as it seems in Bolehland.
The only thing crystal clear and transparent about the forthcoming general elections will be the new transparent ballot boxes.
The people need to stand up for their human rights, it will be a hard battle, but it must be fought.
Massive peaceful protests and sensible voting will succeed.

Appointing new ACA officers its ok,but giving them no powers to act is pointless,ma.

My suggestion is to stationed 3 ACA officers in Najib's office and 3 more around Rosmah.

cheers.

Much of the dealings of Mindef are covered by the OSA. In any case, the international arms trade is famously riddled with corruption and opaque negotiations.

Hey, we've just had one such murky trade-off example celebrated on Life Television - our Bolehnaut's multi-million dollar space tour. Plenty of other less savoury trade-offs settled behind locked doors.

Whether the weapons system should have cost $ 1 Billion or $ 1.5 Billion, who's to say ? They just charge the $ 500 million margin to "Maintenance services" like the case of Perimekar.

Or in other cases they are charged to "Consultancy services". Some of these multi-million dollar consulting services are just shell companies with just a secretary answering the phone...

We have reached the stage where we have to employ civil servants to watch over other civil servants, to make sure they don't steal! What if they start splitting up the proceeds, say 50-50?
