Lingamgate Video Clip - Pak Lah Promises 'Thorough' Investigation
Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Sunday reiterated that a thorough investigation will be carried out to determine the authenticity of the video clip of a telephone conversation purportedly between a lawyer and a judge concerning the appointment of judges.
The Prime Minister said the government had a responsibility to investigate the allegation and had no intention of diverting the probe to other matters.
He said that at times, the people accused the government of trying to divert the investigation when the individual who recorded the scene was questioned, but this meant that the investigation was being carried out extensively. "There is still further investigation being carried out on the matter and we should not make such an assumption," he told reporters here after presenting aid from the Kepala Batas Umno Division to the poor.
The Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) recently recorded statements from Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim with regard to the investigation on the authenticity of the video clip.
Anwar, who is also the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor, had told a press conference after giving his statement to the ACA that he was prepared to cooperate fully with the agency and admitted that the video clip was first exposed by him. (Bernama)
***** The PM should first explain why the so-called 'Independent' Investigation Panel has been disallowed from calling witnesses. If the government was really serious and sincere in getting down to nailing the crooks and loose cannons in this sordid episode, it should have given the panel carte blanche instead of straight-jacketing them.
As it stands it looks like the government is desperately trying to protect the corrupt protagonists in the video clip while at the same time sending a wrong message to the outside world that we are ever willing to shoot the messenger while shielding the tainted culprits.
Pak Lah should now give the details of this 'thorough' investigation he is talking about. Maybe then the kerajaan might be able to preserve a bit of whatever little credibility it has left.

The 'thorough' investigation he promised is to be a thorough investigation of the whistle-blowers, and not of the tape
The can of 'Sham' is most apt. Its just cakap tak serupa bikin ..
What pure unadulterated verbal diarrhoea leaves the mouth of the most dishonourable PM. Hollow promises and empty words are his forte. What a shameful can of 'Sham' from Pak Lah the sham man
agreed with anon 7.16pm. thats the priority of this government. flush out the real messenger and deal with him/her. scare the shit of future whistle-blowers who are going to squeal against the government. meantime, buy enough time for the rogue CJ to retire gracefully and with full benefits accroded for a pensioner. that the least he can be rewarded for the sacrifices he made for the government. corect, corect, correct, correct.
