Do You Believe This Assurance By The ACA?
The Anti- Corruption Agency (ACA) will question all individuals identified in cases of financial mismanagement contained in the Auditor-General's Report 2006 without any discrimination, reports Bernama.
"So far, we have not called them, but they will certainly be called up once we have identified them. Whoever is involved will be called up, there is no favouritism," ACA Director-General Datuk Ahmad Said Hamdan stressed today.
He said this when asked to comment on the statement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who wanted the ACA to investigate the contents of the Auditor-General's report 2006.
Yesterday, Abdullah said the ACA was free to investigate whatever information contained in the report which was released last Friday. The Prime Minister had said that the report was a source of information that could be scrutinised by the ACA itself to determine whether further investigation needed to be carried out.
The Auditor-Genera's Report 2006, among other things, exposed occurrences of financial mismanagement in several ministries including the Youth and Sports Ministry in purchasing several items that were three times more expensive than their market price.
***** The ACA of late has been in the limelight for the wrong reasons when their just retired Director-General was under investigation for massive corruption! That he was exonerated did little to restore the absolutely tarnished image and perception of the ACA. In the mind of the average citizen they are nothing but a bunch of incompetent yes-men whose only 'useful' task is to give a façade of legality to the wholesale corruption going on in the country.

you see, ACA only starts to flex its limb after directive from PM. you can bet the last dollar his cronies will all be shielded. If PM can condone RM4.6 billion PKA fiasco, he can never be trusted to be the man to lead in the fight against corruption.
