"Integrity A National Agenda," Says Pak Lah.
Bernama in a report today stated that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi wants the public as well as the private sector to adopt all government policies in integrity for the good of the nation.
Abdullah, who has championed the need for integrity in all dealings since taking power more than three years ago, said that integrity was a "national agenda" which had to be looked into not only by the federal government but also at the state level.
"Whatever guidelines we have issued on integrity must be used by all. We have reasons to draft such guidelines and once everyone follows, then we have a government and private sector moving in unison to attain greater integrity," he said.
He said this after launching two books -- Corporate Social Responsibility: Our First Look and National Integrity System: A Guiding Framework -- published by the Integrity Institute of Malaysia at his office here today.
He said the publication of the two books proved that the government was serious in its effort to create a government with integrity and good governance.
"We also need to prove that what we say about integrity is followed-up with actions...only then can we really say that we have a government with integrity," he added.
He said the book on Corporate Social Responsibility was a guideline for the corporate world, explaining what the government expected from the private sector in terms of integrity. "These books must be read, understood and implemented for the good of the nation," he said.
Abdullah also called on the Integrity Institute of Malaysia to work closely with other similar institutes to gain more ideas and create networking to better the government's integrity agenda.
Earlier, the prime minister chaired a three-hour cabinet committee meeting on integrity and good governance.
***** Attain greater integrity? Good governance? ........ Am I dreaming?

I find it hard to swallow that the same crooked that gave away RM3 million to each UMNO division as a sweetener now wants to champion "Integrity"
I wanna puke!
Vote BN not!
Integrity has become pornographic, "nowhere to be seen in governance practice". Must be hidden under beds and cupboards. It was neither in Machap nor in Ijoke. The whole idea of a broken record keeps repeating it, is enough to make honesty pukes. Yes, integrity has got dengue and no where to be safe. Maybe full blown AIDS, it dead and gone. Ha, ha, ha ...integrity needs a national funeral!!
hmm...day dream
Wait a minute, INTEGRITY here can be protrayed as follows:
I-nduce voters with bribery;
N-eed for racist policies;
T-otally suppress free information;
E-ncourage cronyism;
G-lorified own achievements;
R-ob the country's rich resources;
I-nject multimillion projects;
T-ranquillize all opposition;
Y-esmen down the line
That's integrity for you and me.
This is UN-believable!! Just fancy that.
This is really NEWS!! No....no, not about the dog biting the man. It is the man biting the dog!!
The word "integrity" has become so cliche, so so so very very very cliche by now. Hello, Mr PM. Release the ACA to Parliament and I will start believing you and your brand of "integrity".
One question for you, Mr. PM:
When are you gonna stop bullshiting??
Cakap tak serupa bikin as you have said of yourself!
The whole world know you talk cock except yourself?
Speeches like this has made us, a nation of "Tin Ears". Noises with no meaning. Lacks honesty, and pretty embarrassingly. There's still no wolf around. For the record.
Dear The Malaysian,
No, u r not dreaming, somebody is, he is talking in his sleepZZZZZZZZZZ....
It does not logically follow that by publishing a book and asking the civil servants et all to read the book will create integrity.
At the core is the question " what are you doing to ensure that intergrity will be practice. What are you doing to enforce intergrity?
All the pious hope and all the reading will not promote INTERGRITY. Firm action and courage are needed to enforce and create it
The type of integrity announced by the prime minister is best reflected in parliament as reported relating to "Motion over menstruation remarks". made by none other the Barisan Nasional member of parliament, the celebrity of animal remarks, Bung Mokhtar Radin (whose derogatory remarks against women and specifically to DAP MP, Fong Po Kuan)also carried by utusan malaysia, China Press and Sin Chew Daily (May 11 2007).
The other infamous BN MP Mohd Said Yusof, another celebrity one-eyed close member of parliament, was also named and censure making similar remarks.
These two are the role models of the Barisan Nasional, for the simple reason that the Speaker Ramli Ngah Talib shot down the motion to formally to refer the two role models to the Committee of privileges.
What kind of message is our Malaysian parliament sending out?
O B I T U A R Y
Integrity
1957 ~ 2007
Family, friends & countrymen, solemnly gathered today to announce the passing of Integrity.
A very sad day indeed for all who knew him. Having struggled for 50 years, of which the last 33 years spent battling terminal NEP.
During the last days of his languid life as he watches the world passes him by, he was given a hefty dose of Ketuanan Melayu, but alas, without hard work & respect, all came to naught.
He leaves behind 3 brothers, Pengkhianat, Hasad & Dengki which resides at No.34 Bay View Terrace, Mosman Park, under the 3rd coconut shell on the left.
The family had requested that all donations be sent to UMNO.
May God Rest His Soul.
Amin.
The PM has has courageously set the stage and expectation by inspiring the nation.
Once the measures start to take hold, honesty and integrity can differentiate Malaysia as a trusted investment destination in the hunt for global skills.
In the land of ample resources and opportunity, integrity and honesty will improve life for all.
I am not being naive. Believe in yourself, your faith, and inspire all near you.
If you are looing for tools to do this, attend my workshop on Corporate Governance and Compliance on Wednesday-Thurssday, Sept 12-13 at the Ritz Carlton in KL.
