Students Can Change Wrong Perceptions On Islam.

Students can change the negative perceptions of the West on Islam by becoming leaders to all races, Information Minister Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin said last night.

To achieve this, he said students must enrich and deepen their religious knowledge and Islamic teachings and not isolate themselves from other races.

"As a catalyst to human capital development, they should not be narrow-minded about Islam but be open-minded and strive to become professionals of international stature.

"By becoming professionals of international standing, the students can help make Islam to be on the mainstream of the world's progress and make the religion relevant for all times," he said when closing the Islamic Cultural Festival hosted by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia's (UiTM) Merbok branch student representatives' council.

Zainuddin, who is also Merbok MP, said students who are active in co-curriculum activities could also help enhance the people's awareness and address their shortcomings to prevent them from being easily influenced by undesirable elements.

Interesting statement. Especially as the previous article "Malaysia's Islamic Officials Seize Baby From Mother Who Sought A Hindu Life." would be a good place to start explaining

Why the obsession with Islam? What about being good leaders of other religions too. The world is not for Islam only.

Wrong perception?
Just compare these:-

Jews : Six millions Jews were killed by the Nazis in the Holocaust.
Yet... we do not see a single Jews bombing a German restaurant.

Buddhist : The Buddha Bamiyan Statues - a world heritage religious relic was blown to bits by the Talibans.
Yet... not a single drop of muslim blood was extracted in revenge.

Christian : Blasphemous "Passion of Christ" was shown throughout the world.
Yet... not a single cinema was burnt.

Hindu : Dandi Salt March in protest of British salt tax.Thousands were jailed.
Yet... not one British officer was killed.

Islam : Danish cartoonist published a caricature of Prophet Muhamad.
Yet... all hell broke loose!

Now we even have cradle snatchers!

Ah, but there is only one problem with hits:

The negative perceptions from the West are indeed TRUE perceptions of Islam as being reinforced by those who ACT IN THE AUTHORITY of Islam, not just in Malaysia, but across the globe.

Until and unless the "silent" majority of Muslims speak out, we will continue to know evil by the roots that sprout it.
