You Can Breathe Easy. No Fuel Price Increase In 2007
There will be no fuel price increase this year, says Second Finance Minister Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop.
"If you are asking about petrol price increase, the answer is no," he said when asked to comment on rumours about the price increase.
He was speaking to reporters after launching Lexus Malaysia's first 3S (service, sales and spare parts) centre here Friday.
In February last year, the government announced a 30-sen hike in the prices of petrol and diesel to RM1.92 and RM1.58 per litre respectively and the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to RM1.75 per kg.
The fuel price increase was the largest ever in the country but still kept Malaysia as the second lowest in the region after Brunei in terms of retail fuel prices.
Before that, the last time the prices were increased was on July 31, 2005, when the petrol price went up by 10 sen per litre, diesel price by 20 sen per litre and LPG price by five sen per kg. (Bernama)
****** So that should put to rest the earlier speculation that a fuel rate hike was imminent. Let us hope that the government keeps to its word on this.

"but still kept Malaysia as the second lowest in SEA after Brunei"
Please check with Indonesia first before quoting.
many always use the following arguament on rumours when debating on something .i.e. "kalau tak ada angin where can pokok goyang one" or "no fire no smoke maaa"
the statement by MKII can mean two things
i) the above arguament on the tree and smoke kenot pakai one
ii) this year petrol and co price will naik one
i have always maintain that we should not base our decisions or views/opinions on rumours and speculations.
p/s: pokok can goyang without angin and smoke can exists wihtout fire!
no fuel increase huh ? must be election year ! i will definitely put my X not on BN.
politician cannot be trusted otherwise they are not politician; let's just see how long this promise can be kept for this year...
last year when they raised the fuel price by 30 sen, they promised not to have any more increase for the rest of the year.hmmmmm.... they kept thier promise!
hmmmmm...its just the beginning of the year; or shall I say beginning of the end, still a long way to go for this year, I might be wrong though or right?...
