Suzaily's Killer To Face The Gallows.

Express Kiara bus driver Hanafi Mat Hassan will face the gallows for raping and killing computer engineer Noor Suzaily Mukhtar in the bus six years ago as he lost his final appeal to overturn the death sentence.

The death sentence for murder and maximum 20 years jail and 12 strokes of the rotan for rape was unanimously affirmed by a five-men bench presided by Justices Datuk Abdul Hamid Mohamad, Datuk Alauddin Mohd Sheriff, Datuk Arifin Zakaria, Datuk Abdul Aziz Mohamed and Datuk Azmel Ma'amor.

Hanafi, 38, from Bukit Marak, Bachok, Kelantan who was wearing a short-sleeve checkered shirt, appeared emotionless in the accused dock when the court pronounced the decision. None of his family members was present in the federal court.

However, Hanafi acted aggressively attempting to kick a photographer of the The New Straits Times when he was escorted to the police truck to be brought to the Sungai Buloh Prison.

Hanafi has one final chance to appeal to the Pardon's Board to have his death sentence communed to imprisonment.--(Bernama)
