Misuse Of Special Funds By State Governments. What Is The ACA Doing?
Over the past few years with a more open press and the advent of blogs, more and more of the misdeeds of politicians and the authorities is coming to light. The recent revelation by the Auditor-General about the use/misuse of special funds meant for the poor and needy, to renovate the residence of the Negeri Sembilan MB is a case in point.
Now comes the news of a similar abuse of special funds by the Kedah state government. In fact the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), accusing the Kedah Government of misusing the special fund set up for tsunami victims, has lodged a report with the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA).
State PKR chairman Mocktar Mansor said the party wants the ACA office here to conduct thorough investigations on the abuse of RM9.84 million from the fund meant for the purchase and repair of fishing equipment. He said the report was lodged based on the Auditor-General's findings which was raised in Parliament by party president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail recently.
According to the Auditor-General's Report, RM701,222 was used by the Kedah State Development Office to buy caps, shirts, lapel pins and to erect billboards to mark the visits of Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister to the state last year.
"We hope the ACA will convene an immediate investigation and let the public have an open account of how the tsunami fund was actually spent," he said after handing his report to Sungai Petani ACA officer Faisol Musa.
Mocktar said the ACA should also probe the alleged misuse of RM1.2 million to buy 700 computers in 2004 which were distributed to the Village Development and Security Committees without calling for a tender, thus violating the Treasury directive.
Sungai Petani ACA Assistant Director Mohamad Fauzi Husin, who confirmed receiving the report, said he would forward the report to the State ACA headquarters in Alor Star for further action.
**** All that the ACA has been doing in these cases is to confirm that reports have been lodged! That's all. They can't and won't take action against the biggest crooks in the country without a green signal from the top leadership. And that as all of us are increasingly becoming aware, will not be forthcoming. This is the main reason that MBs andCMs all over the country are having fun at the public's expense. As long as the PM does not crackdown on top-level crime and get rid off high-level government 'leaders' who are corrupted to the core, there is nothing we can hope from the ACA. They will continue to confirm reports and concentrate on nabbing some wayward ikan bilis and then claim success against corruption. Such a pitiful group of sods the ACA has become.
NOTE: Due to server problems and or a cranky computer, posts have been slow in coming over the past few days. Hopefully things should improve soon. Cheers.

can i answer this? can i answer this?
NOTHING
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
no need to investigate cos they know what went wrong and they know that no action can be taken against the powers that be.
btw, NEVER give donation money thru govt agencies.
learnt this from the JE incident. a lot of the money is spent on "administrative cost" and what is disbursed is given to those with connections, not neccesarily those who were affected.
give to mercy OK. unicef OK red cross/cresent OK.
..not only by the state goverments, what happened to the Teleton Jantung Hatiku by the Telekoms, gone with the winds, even the zakat money,Bosnian Funds, these people is no more humans, but satan, imagine, the donations meant for the suffering and death, misused, or does not reach the destinations,..all Muslims should not Amins for the rulers, leaders in Friday Prayers, if we do so, we are supporting them to do more evil..
If you want to donate, donate to "Doctors without border". "Mercy Malaysia" and some of the other international organisations run by Mat Sallehs. You can be sure your money reaches those it is intended. As for what ACA is doing, all I can say is we are wasting tax payers money keeping this useless agency. All they seem to do once in a while is to raid offices and take away some files and you hear no more about their investigations.
