Zainuddin Maidin's Impassioned Plea - Raise The Flag.

Information Minister Datuk Zainuddin Maidin said that Malaysians, irrespective of race, should not be embarrassed to fly the "Jalur Gemilang" flag especially at their houses, shops and shopping centres nationwide. He said Malaysians generally should be pioneers in taking the initiative to fly the national flag during the Merdeka month to show their patriotic spirit and love for the country.

"We should not be mere followers but we must be pioneers. Don't wait for others (to fly the flag) before we follow suit. Don't be embarrassed.
"Some people are shy to put up the flag at their houses. It is not embarrassing.... so why feel shy?," he told reporters after the hoisting of a giant Jalur Gemilang at Wisma TV, Angkasapuri here, Monday.

He said people who did not fly the Jalur Gemilang were unpatriotic, had no love for the country, did not appreaciate the deeds of the country's leaders and ignorant to the fact that the comfort and prosperity enjoyed today were the results of a long struggle.

Zainuddin also expressed unhappiness with the campaign to fly the Jalur Gemilang in conjunction with this year's Merdeka month and said that the people seemed lacking the spirit to do so and instead relied on the government to do it.

"We all depend on the government as though everything is the government's responsibility... they hope the government will give them (the flag). The flag is on sale and can be bought anywhere. If they can spend money to buy cigarettes, why not buy the flag," he said.

He said that from his observation, many owners of flat units and business premises were insensitive to the campaign. "I appeal to all races, we should try to show that this year's Jalur Gemilang campaign is more impressive," he said.

**** Datuk Zam, previously described in this blog as the Darth Vader of the information Darkside, true to form lashed out at those unwilling to fly the flag with the usual mundane terms - unpatriotic, no love for country, unappreciative, ignorant, insensitive etc etc.

When will he learn that we will do only what we feel is appropriate and are not going to listen to the threats or remonstrations of self-proclaimed super patriots?

After all his patronising and self-righteousness on patriotism, I felt damn embarrassed to HIM as a Minister!

Now, no matter how patriotic he could get, it can't save him from being an IMBECILE.
