RM7.96 Million Drug Pushers' Properties Confiscated - Peanuts!!

Some RM7.96 million worth of properties were confiscated from drug pushers in the first half of this year, police said. Some of the confiscated properties, worth about RM1.078 million, had been handed over to the government, Narcotics CID chief Datuk Mohd Najib Abdul Aziz told reporters, here Tuesday.

The properties were mostly acquired with drug money. He said police could confiscate properties of drug dealers or traffickers who had been charged in court. The country's drug prevention law empowers police to confiscate drug dealers' properties. "When drug traffickers are charged in court, their properties can be confiscated," Mohd Najib said after launching a policing course attended by 30 anti-narcotics policemen from Malaysia and Thailand.

Meanwhile, some 20,393 people were arrested for various drug-related offences in the first half of this year. Mohd Najib said 823 of them had been charged under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction. The rest of them were arrested for lesser drug offences including possessing and consuming drugs.

He also said in the first six months of this year, police seized 1,191 kg of marijuana, ketamine (108.66 kg), erimin-5 pills (193,770 pills), methamphetamines or yabba pills (49,951), psychotropic pills (27,000) and cough syrup (6,048 litres).

**** Pushers are linked to suppliers who count multi-billion ringgit deals as nothing out of the ordinary. When a measly 8 million bucks is confiscated, really there is no reason to rejoice. There are literally thousands of crooked people out there with drug tainted property probably worth as much as what the EPF has and it is this wicked lot that must be brought to book. How much political patronage they enjoy, I don't know. Even if they do, they are enemies of the nation and of our people and should be exterminated.

When the authorities have confiscated at least a billion ringgit of drug baron property, then please publicise it. Until then don't bring out the champagne or sirap.
