ACA - We're Ready To Act On 9MP Fraud Allegations.

The Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) can investigate any allegation that certain projects under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP) have been awarded to individuals before tenders for them were out.

State ACA Director, Jaafar Mahad said, the agency could investigate if there were information or complaints on such malpractice. "We ask those with information on such allegations to come forward and file their complaints to us so that we can investigate," he said to reporters. He added, the agency could also investigate based on its own information.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi recently urged those who alleged that certain projects under the 9MP had been distributed to certain people to report the matter and provide evidence on their allegation.

Two mega projects are to be constructed in Penang. They are the second Penang bridge and a monorail transport system. Jaafar said the ACA would not hesitate to take action if there were evidence that contracts had been awarded without following the proper procedure.

In his speech earlier, he advised youths not to make wealth as their target in life because it could cause them to find it through illegal means.

**** Now that is what I call determination. Of course how much a state ACA director can really do is doubtful. For a start I advice him to contact his counterpart in Selangor and straightaway start investigations on Khir Toyo and other state government (ring?)leaders, and if that leads to the prosecution of a few crooks, then I'll believe this chap.
