An auto rally, starting from here to Sabah, will be held from Sept 11 to Sept 19, in conjunction with Sarawak's 43rd independence celebrations.

Sarawak Information Department said in a statement that the programme would start from Merdeka Field, exploring the entire state up to the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sabah in Kota Kinabalu, before ending at UiTM Sarawak at Kota Samarahan.

The programme's objective included to promote team and patriotic spirit, to encourage healthy living, and to promote unity and cooperation between the two UiTM campuses in Sabah and Sarawak, it said.

The nine-day programme, organised by UiTM Sarawak, is also held in conjunction with the university's golden jubilee celebrations with the Social and Urbanisation Development Ministry, and the Tourism and Rural Development Ministry.

It will be launched by the Social and Urbanisation Development Minister Datuk William Mawan Ikom at Tebingan Kuching.

The programme is open to all staff, students and alumni members of UiTM Sarawak, government agencies and interested public.
