Strengthen Family Institution For Quality Human Capital, Says PM
Although Pak Lah is increasingly becoming famous for his 'elegant silence' strategy in politics, there is one area in which he has time and again been more forthcoming and obviously cares very much about - the family. This blog has highlighted his opinions on the subject in earlier posts and today he shares his thoughts on yet another aspect of it.
The family institution in the country needs to be strengthened to produce human capital of quality to ensure the success of the nation's missions and Vision 2020, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. Human capital development began from the moment children were conceived whereby all necessary plans need to made for their uprbringing so that they became valuable assets to the nation, he said. "A quality human capital will ensure the nation enjoys continued progress, peace and stability," he said when officiating the Keluarga Bahagia Penyayang Selangor family day here.
He said human capital development was vital for the success of the Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Malaysia Plans and the attainment of Vision 2020 (developed nation status by 2020). The Prime Minister said all parties including non-governmental organisations should cooperate to strengthen the family institution so that Malaysia was a nation of happy families.
He said that there was much truth to the opinion that happy families contributed to a happy society and vice versa. "Broken families are not good for the nation," he said, adding that more forums on families were also needed in this regard (quality human capital).
In an era where people don't care for each other and selfishness reigns supreme it is nice to know that our PM can still find time to promote the happy family.
