Param: Why Not Use ISA On Dr Mahathir?
Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad should be detained under the Internal Security Act, said former United Nations official Datuk Param Cumaraswamy."His recent speech in Johor Baru not only bordered on sedition but, applying his own standards, qualifies for detention under the ISA," said Param, the former UN special rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers.
Dr Mahathir had, on May 18, said the Malays were losing their grip on political power and their privileges had been questioned and challenged by non-Malays.
"If those 106 people were detained under the ISA during Operasi Lalang because they indulged in 'race-baiting' which he felt threatened the majority of Malaysians, then surely the same criteria could now be applied to Dr Mahathir for his speech."
In 1987, Operasi Lalang saw 106 people, including opposition party members being detained, some up to several years, and three newspapers shut down for allegedly trying to destabilise the country.
"While I am opposed to the use of the ISA, yet applying the principle of equality before the law, the home minister should seriously consider invoking Section 8 of the ISA and detain Dr Mahathir before he does further damage." (NST)

The ISA is an inhumane law. I never condone it to be used.
Having said that, Mahathir's playing racial supremacist is really despicable. What a sad deterioration of someone who could have retired on a high note and left it at that.
The public has given too much undeserved attention to what mahathir says and does. This plays directly to his inflated sense self-importance.
mahathir’s resignation from UMNO is no national earth-shaterring event, and it has not caused any uncertainty in the nation, as some would like us to believe.
It may be an emotionally bruising experience for mahathir but knowing him, he may yet come out with more brazen action. The public must do its part, it should make it known to him, in no uncertain terms, that his tantrums and ravings are not convincing anyone of his infallibility and the righteouness of his views!
Tunku AA has done well to remind the public of mahathir’s long history of launching vicious personal attacks against those whom he wanted to get rid off. It has repeatedly been shown by his own acts, that he is not shy to go down to the level of bending and twisitng facts to serve his narrow self-interests and purposes.
mahatir, by inciting racial fears, shows he is not only prepared to divide and destroy UMNO, but that he is also prepared to divide and destroy the nation. This is how selfish and irrational he has become!.
Judging by the actions he has taken, it clearly shows humbleness, inordinate charms and dignity are his not personal qualities. He harbours a sense of indispensability, he also harbours the notion that he is infallible. That’s how arrogant he is!

Until the ISA is removed it remains on the statutes. The one to use it will have to be the Home minister who belongs to UMNO. It was used only as recently on the Hindraf 5.
Mahathir has used gaily in the past with gay abandon. It is only poetic justice that he benefit from its usage.
While they are at it, his son Mukhriz, who calls May 13 a `blessing`, should also be picked up.
They can of course be charged in Court later when the ISA is removed. Until such time they can both rest in Kamunting.

Not when we want the ISA abolished. Not the Seditions Act. We want it abolished too. Dr. Mahathir has the right to speak. Someone should point out the perils of such loose tongue to him; which despite his egocentric sturboness should go through his thick head. Stop playing the racial game.
Before we abolish ISA I heartily agreed with Param that this loud-mouthed unrepentant incorrigible and senile fella be sent to Kamunting before he destroy ourpeaceful Governmentand our Country's Foundation.
And Mukhriz should also get a dose of ISA for playing his father's racial game.
If May 13 is a blessing then he is a son of Satan the Devil himself
