"My Responsibility As A Good Muslim Leader Is To Aid Every Malaysian," Says Pak Lah

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi acknowledged that he would fail his responsibility as a good Muslim leader if he deprives non-Muslims in the country equal opportunities and quality education.

Citing versus from the Quran, Abdullah said it’s his paramount onus as a Muslim head of state to witness non-Muslims develop under his leadership.

“Even Prophet Muhammad ensured that minorities under his care were not deprived during his era, even though they were not Muslims.

“My responsibility is to aid every Malaysian regardless of their religion, and quality education should also reach Chinese and Tamil schools,” he said Saturday when addressing some 2,000 Islamic scholars and teachers at Wisma Darul Iman here.

Abdullah said the needs of minorities and non-Muslims should not be ignored by Muslim leaders.

“They should listen and provide the necessary remedies; that is a good leadership professed by Islam,” he said. (The Star)

***** A truly great acknowledgment by Pak Lah. If only he could translate all those well meaning words into positive and meaningful action, it would be wonderful. The catch is - can he? Indeed will the rest of Umno including Najib allow him to do so?

Equal opportunities only happen in “ efficient society “ which practice meritocracy , with current red tape and bureaucrats in many layer or government agencies …..this seems just a dream !!
No need to go far , just look at our closest neighbor ( Singapore ) …. That’s call Quality in education ,, attract many top brains not like us , only having brain drain !!!!
Dr Khoo said wanted to catch up with Singapore 8 years ago …. Please compare Komtar and VIVO City in Singapore…. Are we only capable in shouting slogan “ Malaysia Boleh ??? “ Shiock sendiri !!

He may be a Muslim, but is he a leader?

Sounds as though he is trying to equate his position with that of of Prophet Muhammed SAW.

The Star reported as follows:

"Citing versus from the Quran, Abdullah said it’s his paramount onus as a Muslim head of state to witness non-Muslims develop under his leadership.

“Even Prophet Muhammad ensured that minorities under his care were not deprived during his era, even though they were not Muslims."

How shameless the man is to compare himself with the Holy Prophet.

This type of talk is just that, shameful, empty, hollow TALK.
Best to just totally ignore it.

I agree with anonymous 12.03.

PM Abdullah Badawi is consistent in talk and more talk. After 4 yrs, why do the minorities voice out even more than beofre ?

I think voters should really consider - more of the same OR less of the same.
