Ahmad Said Stripped Of Umno Membership In Terengganu MB Tussle

Kijal assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Said who was supposed to have been sworn-in as the new menteri besar of Terengganu today, has been stripped of his Umno membership for disobeying the party leadership.

It had earlier been speculated that former menteri besar Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh would be retained. But the appointment of Ahmad, 51, was instead announced by the office of the Sultan of Terengganu in a statement to Bernama yesterday.

It looks like Umno has decided enough is enough and will not take any more pressure from the palace. While the fiasco in Perlis was a comedown for the party, at least there was justification for the royal action as the Umno assemblymen themselves were divided and deserted Shahidan. But in Terengganu they have maintained a solid front and there is no way that the palace can justify the swearing-in of Datuk Ahmad Said. The only exit out of this mess is for the palace to backtrack and swear-in Idris Jusoh and that may happen sooner than we think.

For a start it was just announced by the
office of the Sultan of Terengganu that Ahmad Said only received the Terengganu MB appointment letter at 8.20am today and the palace officials have not fixed a date for the swearing-in ceremony. This implies that the palace has realised the futility of its move and it has no choice but at some later date to quietly accept Idris Jusoh as MB no matter how unpalatable he may be to them now.

There are those who have commented that Idris is corrupt, citing the Monsoon Cup, Patrick Badawi and a few other problems. But that does NOT give the Sultan the power or the right to ignore a clear mandate from the people for Umno.

Now we have the tragi-comic situation where the person who would be MB, ostensibly heading an Umno-led government, is not even a member of the party!

Yes, very curious all these goings-on... the Star said Ahmad had the support of seven of the eight Umno division leaders in the state
which is a bit strange if all the Assemblymen are not supporting him...

The Sultan of Terengganu has not ignored the Mandate of the people of Terengganu. HRH chose A Said who (at that point in time) was still an UMNO member.
The Sultan of Perlis did the right thing in rejecting a corrupted Assemblyman (Shahidan) to become CM. Looks like the Sultan of Terengganu has also decided enough is enough.
The Royalty have a responsibility to the Rakyat which they now seem to be taking seriously (seeing how the Rakyat have shown that we will not take anymore crap from the BN or should I say UMNO, who think that they have the God-given right to screw the Rakyat!).
HRH Dr. Raja Nasrin hsa given the rest of the royalty a good example & they are now showing that they too will not take the crap from these corrupted fools.

Getting fired from UMNO isn't such a big deal these days....Anwar Ibrahim is waving his hands from the other corner...

In my constituency, the local Keadilan branch has run out of printed application forms...we've had to resor to to photocopied forms...hehehehe.

We may not like Abdullah but in this case we should support him in this tussle.

Malaysia practises constitutional monarchy and not absolute monarchy. The monarchy must appoint any assemblyman/woman who commands the majority of support from other assembly-persons period
