PM Extends Contract Of IGP. Oh Dear!
The allegations: Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan accepted bribes and has involvement and is pally with underworld figures.
The accuser: Blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin in the website Malaysia Today.
Reaction of the accused: "It's slander BUT I won't sue!"
Reaction of the Deputy Internal Security Minister Minister: "Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) free to investigate Musa over the allegations."
Reaction of the Deputy Prime Minister: "I don’t know about the allegations. Let me check."
Reaction of the Prime Minister: "Extend the contract of service of Tan Sri Musa Hassan to enable the Inspector-General of Police to continue with efforts to combat crime and corruption!!!"
As reported in Bernama, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi either not knowing about the accusations (if that's possible) or simply dismissing them as lies and rumours said "it is hoped that the IGP's efforts will be successful!"
However, Pak Lah did not state the period of the contract. Musa is scheduled to go on mandatory retirement on Sept 12.
The prime minister said the threat posed by crime would be eliminated with the police having stepped up efforts and operations.
The people, he added, should cooperate with the police in such efforts because crime had a direct impact on them.
***** How does the average citizen 'cooperate' with the police when scandal has clouded the reputation of the numero uno of the force and everyone in authority either denies any knowledge or has promised to 'look into it'?
But Pak Lah has gone one up and has brought any tentative investigation of the allegations to a screeching halt, by extending the tenure of the sullied IGP. Never mind that those placed under suspicion or have doubts cast upon them would have, in a true democracy, been at least temporarily removed from carrying out their duties or ordered to go on leave. What more if he is the nation's top policeman?
Syabas Prime Minister. You've just given proof of your belief in the maxim that one is innocent until proven guilty. Indeed you've gone further than any democratic leader in modern history by not only extending the services of the one under suspicion but have given the IGP a resounding vote of confidence by entrusting him with combating the very crimes that he has been accused of! What more can I say but "Malaysia Boleh!"?

Pak Konk-lah's excesses in his ongoing honeymoon has konked out the grey matter cells in his medulla oblongata so much so that he is convinced all govt personnel are uncorrupted. In his demented mind, the corrupted ones are those in the opposition parties
