National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students Urges Ban On Gwen Stefani Concert
Malaysia should pull the plug on the Kuala Lumpur leg of U.S. singer Gwen Stefani's upcoming Asian tour because of her indecent dressing and obscenity, a Muslim students' group said on Tuesday. The 10,000-strong National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students said Stefani's August 21 concert, which is part of her 'Sweet Escape' tour, would clash with local Asian and Islamic values.
"Her video clips promoting the event are too obscene," Mohamad Hilmi Ramli, the group's president, told Reuters. "We want the organizers to cancel the concert, failing which we will ask the authorities to intervene."
Ethnic Malays, who are by definition Muslims, make up just over half of Malaysia's 26 million people. Ethnic Chinese and Indians, who are mostly Buddhists, Christians or Hindus, form sizeable minorities.
Hilmi also criticized Malaysian mobile phone firm Maxis Communications for promoting the concert. "Maxis has been staging a series of foreign acts ... to make a profit and to expose our young generation to things such as moral decay," he said.
Maxis officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

Don't go and watch the concert if it is to obscene la! DUH!
Stop using "Asian Values" as an excuse.
It's the "Islamic views" that do not allow obscenity and such. So these ppl need to stop pulling Asia into the picture.
I am furious with these egoistical statements that these kind of people make nowadays.
where is the tolerance in our society?
then again, should we be surprised when these people can't even debate properly? can't even discuss any issue intelligently? i blame our education system for this shame.

When Christians wish to hold a gathering, say at the Stadium Negara, they will always advertise with the notice "This is only meant for non-Muslim". So why can't they do the same as in the case of Gwen Stefani concert. I am not a fan of this singer but I still think these NUMMS blokes are nothing more than one big group of SELFISH people. So when they can't get to enjoy a show, they have to deprive others from doing so.
MALAYSIA BOLEH... BAN!!!! Unfortunately, moral decay is already happening among the Muslims more and more these days. I believe that Islam teaches alot about the purity of the mind as do the Christians. So if they are so pure in thought... why would they be afraid of this "obscenely" dressed woman? This "obscenity" is seen everyday on television. MTV and Juice shows it everyday on Astro. So what are they going to do about it? Ban Astro? Ban foreign TV programmes from coming into Malaysia and only broadcast Malay programmes? The TV industry in Malaysia will fall within 5 years.
