Who Is Ong Tee Kiat To Speak On Behalf Of Guocoland?

Bernama today reported that Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Ong Tee Kiat wants the issue of the relocation of Universiti Malaya (UM) to stop.

He said he had obtained clarification from Guocoland (M) Berhad, the developer purportedly keen to develop the area, and was informed that the company had never had any intention to acquire the site.

"It's a non-issue. So, why do we need to continue to discuss it?" he said to reporters at the parliament lobby here Wednesday.

It was reported recently that Guocoland (M) Berhad had offered to relocate Universiti Malaya to Sepang so that it could develop the present site into a RM10 billion commercial and residential area.

***** I want to ask Ong Tee Kiat just who the devil is he to speak on behalf of the big bosses in Guocoland (M) Bhd? Does he have a large share in the company? If not why the great interest and why so anxious to see that the discussion on the relocation issue cease? In any case who asked him to inquire from them and in what capacity did he do so?

If any clarification should be given, it must be from the principals in Guocoland, especially Quek Leng Chan. Apparently the bloody conglomerate has already given a denial of sorts.

The trouble is that many of these MCA bigwigs from both the erstwhile A and B teams have their dirty fingers firmly planted in many pies and if one of these jokers now proposes to speak on behalf of a really big tycoon, something must be definitely going on between them. This is the inference which many will make. Any other explanation is most welcome.
