Tourism Malaysia's Latest Weapon - Amber Chia!

From Bernama comes this interesting piece of news.
Malaysian model Amber Chia will be the star attraction of a promotion by Tourism Malaysia in several north China cities this month.
The Ipoh-born pouty-lipped model has been engaged for catwalk shows in Beijing, Qingdao, Zhengzhou, Harbin, Dalian and possibly Tianjin.

Michael Tay, Tourism Malaysia director here, said Chia will showcase designs by Malaysian fashion houses, Salabianca and Philosophy, including batik wear. "We are working together with Parkson department store which has outlets in these cities," he said.

The first show will be on June 22 at the latest Parkson department store in Beijing.

Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor is expected to attend the event. He is arriving next week to open the new Tourism Malaysia office in Beijing and at Awana Beijing restaurant.

Tay said Tourism Malaysia has also prepared 60 lucky draw holiday packages and 30,000 orang utan soft toys for shoppers.

China is the fifth largest source of tourists for Malaysia with nearly 440,000 visiting last year.

What does Malaysia have that China don't have? Mountains, rivers, food etc. China has everything and more beautiful than Malaysia. So what is so unique here that China don't have. Leaving Beijing, or Shanghai for Malaysia is like going to a kampung or semi-urban town.

Amber Chia? To promote Malaysia? What relevance? Latest weapon?

Is this a joke?

I think if China sends their weapons to Malaysia (just 5,000 girls will do), would be more effective.Promoting China, of course.

Ah Moi,

I'm afraid you're the greater fool to believe in Ng Yen Yen. You should remember ages ago, Ng Yen Yen was reported in a local afternoon newspaper to the effect that Malaysian housewives should put on makeup so that their husbands would not go astray. AND MORE: That married Malaysian women should check their husband's pant for semen stains. Yes, check, go to the newspapers' archives before you open your mouth.

In fact, Ng Yen Yen now has openly objected to Chinese mainland sending housemaids to Malaysia. Isn't it that she is advocating Malaysian women not to trust their husbands? Yes, there maybe incidences and cases of infidelity involving these foreign women. But by objecting to the proposal, she must show proof and evidence on the number of cases to justify her objection. Otherwise she is just making sweeping statements out of isolated cases? What about Indonesian housemaids and other nationalities which was in the past once considered a fear too but irrational now. So how many cases can she prove that legitimately constitute the justification for her objection? What about the current intake of foot masseuses from China you can find in the Klang valley alone? Why the MCA wanita chief did not object? Is it that they only massage feet only? What about those colonial days when the "ma cheah" (even young girls with pigtails) from China were also working as housemaids in many wealthy families. So I presumed they also cause havoc in Malayan families during that time?

Utterly nonsensical !

Some women leaders just don't trust men, or some hidden personal psychological problems tainting their viewpoints and probably needed some psychiatric help.

There are some 6 million Chinese Malaysians and millions more Chinese Malaysian households. So how many have been affected or conned by these foreign women?

Heheheh....I think this Chinese Maids-as-temptress thing is one of those urban legends with a bit of truth blown up into a major fear by insecure Malaysian Chinese wives.
There are thousands of households in the country which employ domestic maids. The vast majority of the husbands are responsible family men who are very unlikely to start anything immoral with their employee.

The Chinese nationals who knowingly join the local "entertainment" outlets such as massage parlours, karaoke lounges etc. are a totally different breed. They are here to extract maximum gain from their male clients, by whatever means at their disposal. There are plenty of local women with exactly the same modus operandi, so its not a unique "dragon lady" issue.
