South Korean Billonaire Seeks Spouse For Only Daughter - Anyone Interested?

From Bernama comes this very interesting proposition.
A Seoul matchmaking firm has posted an advertisement that a rich South Korean man is seeking a spouse for his only child, a daughter who is now in her late 30s, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reports Monday.

The man who claimed to be a billionaire, wants a future son-in-law who is economically secure and willing to live with his family, the company Sunoo said, adding the billionaire wants the would-be son-in-law to act as his son.

In the traditionally paternal Korean society, daughters are still often sidelined in family businesses.

"My daughter studied abroad and now is a professional with a fairly good yearly wage and her own property exceeds US$2 million," the man was quoted as saying." The only shortcomings are that she is a little bit old and short," he said.

Despite the company's recommendation that applicants not view the family's economic power as the main consideration, the advertisement is likely to stir controversy in a country where marriage is traditionally considered one of the most important and sacred events in one's life.

"I was surprised at the news that a rich person is seeking a man willing to marry into his family," said a 34-year-old businessman who is single.

"A person has the freedom to get married or not, but it's still questionable whether a marriage that is beyond common sense would be publicly accepted," he added.
***** Perhaps in South Korea such an advertisement may be considered controversial or unacceptable. However I've been given to understand that the above is quite a normal practice in the Indian subcontinent. Perhaps someone in the know could enlighten us.
