Najib And His American Dream For Us.

Malaysians must learn from America's strengths, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said Wednesday.
"All nations have their strengths and weaknesses but the US obviously has strengths that can be emulated by others," said the deputy prime minister, who is currently on a private holiday in the United States. He said there was no other country as omnipresent and superior in the world as the United States.

"However, we Malaysians have to leverage what we have despite being a small country. We should extend our influence to as many fields as possible," he told the Malaysian community at a dinner hosted in his honour at the Malaysian permanent mission to the United Nations here.

Najib said the question as to which ideals and values were better, whether eastern or western, could be debated endlessly. "Nevertheless, we should look at values common to our society," he said, citing as example how American motorists drove in a disciplined manner, respecting the laws and requirements governing driving. "Malaysians can learn from the disciplined manner Americans drive," he said.

He also referred to the "incredible opportunities" America offered to immigrants. "If you have good ideas, coupled with entrepreneurial drive and hardwork, you can get rewarded for your efforts. America is at the technological forefront because it rewards the deserving.

It also does not punish those who fail but encourages them to rise like the Phoenix from the ashes," he said, citing the example of Stanley Khoo, a Malaysian entrepreneur, who started as a kitchen helper and now owns 17 restaurants in the US.

"Indeed, we would like to see Malaysians in top corporate positions in the United States and become top leaders of the future. Only by learning from the best can we hope to survive in the fiercely competitive globalisation."

This is typical of politicians. To show the kampung and coffee-shop citizens what good and patriotic leaders they project to be,they will never recomemd or praise any other culture and tell you nothing is better them being here at home,be it education, holidays or medical treatment!

In the same vein, they'll run to any country, singing praises about that country, for their personal holidays, their children's education, their wife's shopping list or their medical treatment et cetera et cetera...

Najib should look closer to home and praise those tax-paying citizens, who have made it good with no help from the government.
Everyone's fore-fathers came to this country with the same dream too,be they Chinese, Indians or Malays.

Malaysian can persue the American dream in US, but we can only dream of Malaysia dream here.
Our country only welcome the Indons, Banglas, Pakistanis labourers & generously give them PR or citizenship. Those deserving professional spouse of Malaysian are left out because they are not in the favoured list.
Talk about rewarding the deserving? Talk is cheap. Please dream on.

Do I smell a rat here?
Americans have been demonised over and over again and the great satan's flag has been burnt and effigies tortured. The UMNO Youth movement is compiling a list of companies sympathetic to Israel and their supporters.
Now this must be a damage control effort ?

Excellent deduction singh. Somehow to me it seemed out of tune to what is happening here; with the recent demos, boycott calls as well as the IOC meet going on.

... Najib said this? so long as the NEP is still intact, no such dream can be attained in Malaysia. Many "deserving" Malaysians have left because the system has no place for them. They obviously got their "rewards" in other countries who really value their worth, for worth's sake.
