PAS Youth Demand Independent Commission To Investigate 25 Issues.

Dewan Pemuda PAS Pusat (DPPP) has urged the government to set-up an independent commission to look into 25 serious issues which need to be urgently answered, including the Tajuddin Ramli-MAS case.

Ketua Pemuda PAS Salahuddin Ayub stated that the Tajuddin Ramli issue where it is alleged that he was instructed in 1994 to buy a stake in Malaysia Airlines at way above the market price to help the Government avert a financial crisis brought about by heavy losses in foreign exchange speculation and that he was a reluctant investor and only agreed to buy the stake for RM1.8 billion because he had been persuaded by the then prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, is a damning example of high-level collusion and corruption. MAS, now suing its former chairman Tan Sri Tajudin Ramli for damages for breach of fiduciary duties is also an 'indirect' threat and warning to Dr Mahathir to stop criticising the government, he said.

Among the 25 issues he wants investigated are: Fraud and misappropriation in EPF funds, corrupt practices and fraud in Tabung Haji, scenic bridge fiasco, water supply to Singapore, Batu Putih controversy, sale of sand to Singapore, purchasing irregularities in the Ministry of Defence, royalty payments to Terengganu, privatisation of IPPs, MISC, KLCC project, KTM land in Singapore and Bank Bumiputra.

Apart from the above he also wants investigated the wealth of the family members of BN leaders as well as their involvement in business, the Putrajaya project, political parties setting-up universities, Proton controversy, AP fiasco, trust funds in Selangor and Johor, 'bankrupt' state governments, Bakun Dam, currency dealings of Bank Negara and other issues.

He wants the independent commission to get to the bottom of things without fear or favour and bring to justice all wrongdoers be they in government or retired.

With this kind of 'hit-list' masquerading as demands or wishes, I wonder which Santa Claus is going to grant it?
