Four Foreign Banks Launch Shared ATM Services
Four foreign banks have jointly launched a shared automated teller machine (ATM) service - HOUSe, to provide their bank customers with access to more than 300 ATMs in the country.
The four banks are HSBC Bank Malaysia Bhd (HSBC), OCBC Bank Malaysia Bhd (OCBC), United Overseas Bank Malaysia Bhd (UOB) and Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Bhd. "The launch of House is a significant development for locally incorporated foreign banks and their customers in Malaysia," the chief executive officer (CEO) of Standard Chartered, Shayne Nelson told reporters after the launch of HOUSe here, Monday.
HOUSe will link all the participating banks' ATM systems and enable customers of these banks to make cash withdrawals and balance inquiries at each of the participating bank's ATM nationwide.
Currently the four banks have 120 branches and this would be extended to 140 branches in Malaysia by year end. Meanwhile, UOB CEO Chan Kok Seong said other foreign banks were also welcome to participate in the joint services.
