What was this meeting for really?
Ever since a PAS leader said that plans are underfoot to sack Dr Mahathir from UMNO coming Monday, every move by the PM has been watched more than usual. Some have received this news with a pinch of salt while others have either reacted with glee or fear of the future if it really happened.
In this context the following meeting was watched and interpreted accordingly.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Friday night held a meeting with all the state Umno liaison heads to discuss current issues. The closed-door meeting, which lasted about three hours, ended about 11 pm at the Prime Minister's Office at the Perdana Putra building here.
Johor Menteri Besar, who is also the State Umno Liaison Head, Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman told reporters that at the meeting Abdullah had mentioned that the government would give a response to the issues raised by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Abdullah also reminded the state Umno liaison heads to monitor all projects implemented under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP) to ensure that it gave the desired impact.
According to Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, the Prime Minister said that the people must also appreciate that the government was not only planning projects and programmes under the 9MP but also stressed on the implementation aspects.
**** So a late night meeting was held, of the UMNO party bosses, to discuss the response to Mahathir's questions. Is the former PM's dismissal from UMNO the so-called response? Looks like we have to look to PAS again for some sort of confirmation.
More importantly is dismissal from the party the real answer to someone who asks difficult questions? What will be the implications if UMNO actually goes ahead with the expulsion? What are the chances of a compromise to get things back on track for UMNO and the country? Many say that the sidelining and marginalisation of Khairy Jamaluddin will be an effective measure for reconciliation. Will it? Any answers?

When Pak Lah assumed power, did you remember of the NSTP hype about the FIRST FAMILY? ... the daughter in law will pick out what clothes he should wear (he's a terrible dresser they say), the daughter will check on his schedule because Pak Lah is prone to meeting people even how late they come and mostly unannounce.
And later came the story about this rising star Khairy by none other than Kalimullah. I wrote a stinging email to Kali (I dont know him though) and another to a senior editor who's a good friend.
Why the hype on Khairy? I have'nt heard of him and so young too. What's so special about Khairy? These were the thoughts running thru my mind. And today, exactly the same thoughts are running through my mind.
That Mathias fella hv publicly accused him of corruption. Never mind if there is no evidence. He has suddenly become a political liability to Pak Lah's perceived integrity.
Problem is, we seems to be in a hurry to go to this place called 2020. Why so? Damn kids grow up with this skewed Vision of getting there like crazy, maybe using Leadership by Example, TunM style.
Let's slow down the pace for a while. Re-examine ourselves and where we really want to go, what we want out of life on planet earth, either as individuals or when part of the community we live in.
In conclusion, we have ALL finally turn full circle. YES, take some time off, read poetry and listen to the classics. Indeed, we are a nation blessed by the GODS for amidst all this very serious power struggle, the rakyat still have the FIFA World Cup; but careful with the betting ok .. dont want some Along knocking on your door.
