Hudud Laws Only For Muslims, Says Pas President
PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said today non-Muslims should not feel apprehensive about the implementation of "hudud" laws in the country because the Islamic penal code was meant only for Muslims.
He said non-Muslims could opt for the law they wanted, for example as provided for in the Syariah Criminal Code of Kelantan and Terengganu.
"It is unnecessary for PAS to give an explanation (on the hudud laws) because the laws have nothing to do with non-Muslims," he told a news conference after launching the "Jom Sertai PAS" (Let's Join PAS) campaign at Dataran Shah Alam here.
Abdul Hadi was asked whether PAS would provide an explanation on the hudud laws to the leaders of DAP and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) -- the other component parties -- in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) as they were uncomfortable with PAS's idea of wanting to implement the hudud laws if the PR came to power in the country. ***** Now that the top man in PAS has given his assurance, how many of you non-Muslims are relieved by his words? Can we now proceed with its implementation?

Hi
Season's greetings + Happy New YEar.
It's not so straightforward.
How would a Muslim thief feel if his hands are chopped off but a non-Muslim doesn't?
I think the law should apply equally to everyone....
And it doesn't really solve the problem of crime committed by non-Muslims....CHinese, Indians, etc...
For curiosity sake, what is the punishment for corruption in Hudud Laws. If its chopping off the hands, whoa!!! thousands of our govt servants will be without hands and 95% are malays.
For that reason, the barisan govt is opposing the hudud law, do you know that?
Today I am not afraid of PAS, I am afraid of UMNO.
I hope we will have a happy 2009.
Idiots are at it again!!!
Will the hudud laws specify cutting off one's hand if he is guilty of taking bribes? After all, that's stealing!
Jed Yoong
You should join PAS!
If we were to implement Hudud as a form of deterrent, than we are doing it for a wrong reason. I am afraid it will fail miserably.
1) How is the enforcement going to be implemented, when a simple fatwa on smoking that was issued in 1995 has not even nab a single muslim smoker?
2) Deterrent does not work. Just look at the death sentence for drug trafficking. We are still hanging them left, right & center.
God's law is not to be feared but LOVEd.
Going by this brilliant logic of having one standard for the slaves of Allah and another standard for the non-believers, the non-believers are free to say anything about Islam without repercussions, and PAS will be OK with that, right? After all, according to PAS, the standard for the slaves of Allah does not apply to non-believers.
it seems like that PAS is trying to "sell" the issue of Hudud to the masses.this maybe due to the upcoming by-election that's just around the corner.another game for another election.
at first Husam from PAS said that they gonna implement Hudud as soon as PR takes over the federal govt.then not long after that, just right after Guan Eng and DAP made their stance on Hudud issue,Husam said that they will wait even for 30 years to implement Hudud.
the thing is that this shows that some people in PAS aren't trustworthy.he said one thing at the first place then he said something else afterward.
Step 1: Destroy BN
Step 2: Destroy PAS
THIS HUDUD LAW REMARK IS SIMILAR TO THE SYARIAH LAW REMARKS. THE SYARIAH COURT WAS PASSED IN PARLIMENT IN 1988 WHICH STATES THAT "ONLY MUSLIMS ARE INVOLVED" BUT IF YOU LOOK NOW AT SO MANY CASES WHERE NON-MUSLIMS WERE DIRECTLY INVOLVED AND COULD NOT BE RESOLVED YOU WILL KNOW IT IS NOT A WISE MOVE FOR NON-MUSLIMS. SOONER OR LATER, NON-MUSLIMS AFFAIRS WILL ALSO BE CONNECTED.
SO I SAY, IT SHOULD NOT AND MUST NOT BE IMPLEMENTED. WE ARE NOT LIVING IN THE PRIMITIVE AGE AS MENTIONED BY OUR FORMER PM.

You see the biggest problem is with this cut of hand thing! It's really annoying that many people are accusing the Islamic religion of this and that but without an adequate understanding of the religion itself. They act like know hows and go around here and there proclaiming that Hudud is the worse law because then a persons hand is cut and hey! that means he/she can't find money no more! Bohoo. Well you all should study more. The basic principles of the Quran and Hudud is driven by justice. Theres methods and steps taken first, considerations you know. Sheesh! don't lah talk about something you don't have understanding of. and damn it Pas is just making it worse by not defining it clearly. I hate em right way for that and I'm a muslim ><
